Why does my car smoke white smoke somone said becuase engine is cold but its not its always smoked evaparative smoke when its cold out side..... anyways enjoy the launch :)

pmsl!!!
that looks hilarious
mine is bad to i was told its condensation
these cars chuck out very high temp gases and its cold!

does it use water
pretty sure white smoke is water?

if that was smoke the car would have serious problems lol

No doesnt use water or oil. I think its just because its cold up here # west yorkshire.

It's seriously detrimental to the engines health to give it death like that before it's properly up to temp anyway... If you carry on like that you can look forward to replacing (at least) your piston rings very soon!

Not the brightest thing to do to a cold car.

The engine can still be at temp even though condensation is coming from the exhaust

Why is everyone saying engine is cold !!! It isnt it was warm i had done around 10 miles before i did this

It was properly up to temprature otherwise i wouldnt have done this. Temp outside was -1 by the way . I thinks its normal was just curious if it was ;-)

There you go...

Ok... my tuppence.... even when the car is up to temp there is still moisture in the exhaust and boxes etc... see this all the time on the dyno... have to run them a little longer under load before the runs to get heat into the exhaust to stop the condensation nuking the lambda probe that gets stuck in the tail pipes...

If the car had been idling or driven slowly to get to temp then chances are the exhaust will still have moisture in it... this could well be whats happening here

just been to see my car running since having a lot of work done
it was as bad as yours fella!!

also spend a lot of time in traffic and most german cars seem bad for condensation
even new cars

What Tuffty says :eagerness:......

Basically if you only do short journeys in your car then the exhaust system gets full of condensation...even pools of water...then when you re-start your car the next day the engine has to literally boil off all that water..hence you have white steam (not smoke).... it can probably take a good hours worth of motorway driving to clear it all out if it's bad.... if it's still doing it badly after this then you may be looking at a more serious underlying problem but you would notice this because you would be having to top up your radiator every day... the recent cold weather makes it looks worse

Mine steams like this all the time. My work is only a 2 mile drive and it just makes it up to temperature. Every couple of weeks or so i take it for a blast down some B roads and it takes around 45 mins to an hour to finally stop looking like a steam train :D. It doesn't lose any water so im not concerned.
