Yeah mate brilliant service! Part numbers match on all 4 shocks. Ordered them about 2pm on tues and they arrived exactly 24 hours later. Ordered them from Wanapart and they came direct from ZF Services in Northamptonshire! Also they were £50 cheaper than anywhere else! Can you tell I'm pretty chuffed haha?

Sounds like good service to me and will remember them for sure

A good 15mm with the perches would be nice! Although it'll probably be closer to ~10-12mm like most people haha

The perches are perfect on the 1.9tdi in terms of bringing the front level with the rear......you wont regret it at all.

Mine was about 15-20mm which is basically a finger reduction for me

I just can't wait for your reaction when it's all fitted, new tyres and all!
Have you got a cunning plan how to get rid of all the snow dude?

Should I just get the eibachs and not tell the wifey? She wouldn't notice anyway's....

I can't wait mate. Hopefully it makes a huge difference! It's been off the road since the 10th and I miss it! Been scooting around in my 106 quicksilver in the meantime! :boring:

Wait for it to melt haha. Nah stage 1 of getting fixed is tomorrow so I forsee a pair of very cold hands!

Be careful how you express how brilliant your "new" Audi is, she might be smitten by it and you may be stuck with the 106!

Cleverly I am insured on both cars and she is only insured on the 106! ☺ haha

If I wait a few weeks before buying / fitting lowered springs. What would I need to redo? Just the alignment?

Also talking about that, even though my car isn't a quattro would people recommend a 4 wheel alignment?

Every time bud. Some of my customers do a full overall, toe, camber etc for £75 proper smart machine.

How much did you get quoted for the thermostat??
Think mine is starting to play up, it drops down from 90 on occasion!
My mk4 golf pd130 is rarely on 90 now a days!! Lol been gradually getting worse over the past few years!

Looking forward to seeing some pics when you've had the work done.

My mate is fitting it for free as he is fitting my shocks and brakes for me at the same time. If he wasn't I'd just do myself anyways as it's pretty simple to do.

I bought a genuine thermostat from darkside developments months ago, can't remember how much for now. My car has never been above 70! Apart from the first day I had it, exactly a year ago now, it jumped to 90 when in traffic!

EDIT: Found the email. £20 for the thermostat and £12.50 for the sensor exc. VAT. £42.60 all in.

I was going to measure the height from ground to arch before fitting the perches and I f**king forgot haha. I blame alcohol!

Okay, so far the brakes have been fitted all round and the rear shocks. My mate didn't have a tool for disconnecting the driveshafts or something to fit the front shocks so they need to wait.
Still getting the tyres etc fitted on Tuesday, I'll just go back after the front shocks are fitted for the 4 wheel alignment!

The only special tool I needed for the fronts was the extra deep ring spanner for releasing the top mount from the shock....should not need to touch the driveshaft at all.

Beats me mate, I'm not mechanically minded. Either that or its just an excuse if he couldn't be bothered haha. He works 3pm-3/4am in a merc garage then homers during the day so Sunday is usually his day off haha. Who knows. I'm not bothered as long as it gets done haha

Undo the driveshafts!!!!!! Eh? Sorry bud but are you sure he knows what he is doing that does not sound good

Yeah I was thinking about it. He can stumble his words quite often so I don't if he means something else. Saying that though, I think I'll just get the shocks done at the garage tomorrow...

Picked up the car tonight, front and rear brakes fitted and rear shocks done!

He could be planning on removing the whole upright to get the pinch bolts out, in which case he would need to undo the drive haft nut wouldn't he?

No idea. Car is in the garage anyways. He will call me again before doing any work with a full price for everything including the front shocks.

Even with just the rear shocks fitted the rear feels a lot more solid and grounded! Thought it would sit a little higher with new rear shocks too but it doesn't, sits pretty low in my opinion! Although I think I need new springs too as the originals have seen better days! ☺

The big brakes on the front don't feel drastically different but then again I haven't really driven it for a month.. haha ☺. Do they take a while to bed in or somethin? Haha

Hopefully by this time tomorrow she will be back on the road! I shall update again today or tomorrow when everything is done!

That's would be the only reason. But unless you have asked him to replace the bolt, then I don't many. If any that would remove it to do the shocks, very random.

Garage called. £325 for full service, MOT, fit and balance tyres, 4 wheel alignment and fitting the front shocks. The front lower control arms failed my MOT so they are getting replaced for £190. Hopefully I'll get it back today ☺
