Hey guys,
I am looking at doing a sub install in my car. I am not doing it in a traditional manner however...
I will be using a "free air subwoofer"
I will be building a fake floor in the boot that will raise about 10cm above stock, this will allow for two things for me to carry a full size 5th alloy and that is also the space that the sub will be sitting in (with the alloy rotated, pic attached). Then it will be a 18mm or 22mm mdf sheet on hinges that will open and the sub will be attached to that.
Everything will be sound deadened with green recycled carpet underlay.
I plan on using this Sub and this amp will these be fine? (I'm not sure if that amp will be able to fully power the sub and have enough left over for two rear speakers?)
If i understand correctly i will be able to bridge two channels on the amp so that i get 300W at 4 Ohms? (which is what i think the sub needs)
And that would leave me with 2 spare channels so that i can power the rears when i upgrade them, leaving the fronts amped from the head unit.
Also would 8 gauge power wire would be enough for this sort of configuration?
I have had some experience in fitting a sub & amp package, but that was bought as a kit and i didn't have to worry about compatibility.
Can someone please check these two products over and let me know if they are suitable?
I am already running a Pioneer SPH-DA120 headunit with stock audi speakers.
Thanks
