Egr open circuit

2.0 TDi is just out on warranty by two weeks. Was driving fine then, all of a sudden the engine management light started flashing, followed by a stabilisation program fault alert and a parking brake fault alert. Then it went into limp home mode.

I read the codes over vcds:
Egr valve open circuit
Sensor reference voltage b
Egr valve malfunction
Engine speed sensor no signal

None of these can be cleared. Any ideas?
 
Being just 2 weeks out of warranty you could blag them to supply you a new one , start off with you want one supplied and fitted then back down to just supplied like you're doing them a favour.

Sell the new egr and delete the old and remap.
 
Yes it will pass the mot and if it is mapped out you won't have any lights on the dash to worry about.
 
Sounds like a wiring fault to me. Check for loom rubbing through on engine or touching something hot.

What is the cost to replace egr vs blanking and mapping it out.
 
Somebody will correct me if I am wrong I'm sure, I think the egr and fitting is around £400ish and the egr delete is around £60-70 and the map varies on where you go can be cheap if you just get the egr written out or have a remap at the same time, so can be as cheap as £150 or as expensive as £600

Try unplugging the egr first though and plugging it back in as when I had mine mapped out the first time it didn't work and came up with those faults and when it was plugged back in the faults cleared so I had to drive around with the egr plugged in but not connected until I could get back for another go at writing it out.

Nah turns out the electrical interface is complete corroded needs changed. Don't have the balls to take out the dpf, scared mot regs might change again and it's detected. Can the egr be bypassed without deleting the dpf or will this cause problems with regen.
 
Yes of course it can my egr is deleted and I still have my dpf and have had for 12 months
 
Did you just delete it completely via remap or did you have have to insert a blanking plate also. Does the car still initiate a regen as required for the dpf
 
I deleted via remap and blanked it off and removed the egr it was fine when was removed just don't want it on :/ yes the dpf still regens as normal

Someone told me I can get the egr valve to stay permanently shut in the remap, eliminating any need for blanking plate. Any truth in this?
Seems like a more reversible solution
 
True , but worth putting in a slip in blanking plate at egr feed pipe at the bottom to prevent it from filling up with exhaust gasses .

As gazwould says you can map the egr out so it doesn't work but stays in the open position if you do that it would be worth just removing and cleaning out first, but as said it will need a blanking plate on the feed pipe.
