Look what i came back too....

Got my offer today. £2800 minus 626.60 if i want the salvage so just over £2100. Gave them a quick ring said not a chance i could get a car like mine for that money. The reply i got was we might be able to give you another £100 but got to speak to the guy actually doing the claim.

I have got to go through auto trader and ebay now to find examples of similar cars to get that offer bumped up.

I always thought your A4 was one of the best I had ever seen. Seeing photos of your car was one of the reasons I decided to buy an A4. Im totally gutted for you after hearing what happened. I hope you get things sorted out ok, best of luck mate.

Thanks for that it had been my project and took a few years to get where it was, still pretty gutted. Might be alot of parts coming up for sale soon so keep an eye on the classifieds. Will report back tomorrow when i have spoke to the guy dealing with my claim

JimmyTDI, thats just horrible bad luck! I hate hearing things like that after all the effort you put into the car in the 1st place.

I think legal teams are hit and miss, in the past ive always given the option for the idiot to go 'private' without insurance if they have hit me. (thats if there has been a witness!)

We are going to have to resort to putting CCTV on our dash boards like the boys in blue! haha

The thread, "Who's eating all the b6's", it's these ****** insurance companies writing off perfectly fixable cars.
Of course the Muppets that drive into them don't help much.

That's an absolute insult, as you will never find one as clean as yours for that price.

Had an email this morning they have upped the price to £2900 an extra £100 wahoo.... He also sent me some examples of cars on the market for that amount of money. Nice a4's with good mileage and a few extras. One big problem all of them were se spec and not one was a 190. Quick phone call to them "nothing more we can do that is max offer you will have to take it further with someone higher up". Insurance is a f#$@ing joke. If it was my fault i could understand but to be put out by a bus driver. Rant over ha!!!!!.

See where this goes now because i really dont think that offer is acceptable....

The insurance company are not even using like for like examples of your Audi. Using a basic model as a comparison is nothing short of fraud. If you were trying to con them in the same fashion you would be accused of committing fraud.

That is not right at all...........and would getting some legal advice

Are you through a broker? Or did you buy on-line / direct ? If broker, they should be dealing with this for you. FWIW I use a broker, not only is mine cheaper than on-line but I get far better service and no hassle.

Indeed, they should be comparing 190 with 190 - I suggest you ask for the case to be escalated to a manger. Also worth having some research to demonstrate that the value of an SE is not that of a 190. Value of various extras etc may of course be more difficult although the assessor should have taken some account of that. If you value a car at significantly over its book price then "agreed value" policy is really the only way to go. But this, of course, might be a wee bit late for you right now.

hi mate you might have seen my post recently i had exactly the same issues as you, i wanted £3500, they offered me a joke sum of something like £2800 to start and straight away laughed and told him no, i'd already been looking on the tinterweb as to what prices were going for so was armed with prices.
the guy on the phone must have been on the autotrader in front of him and he was trying to justify it being a good offer compared to what was on and mileage etc, thing is he didnt realise that early sports didnt have door blades gmbh kit etc, i left it and next day he called back and offered £3100, told him to leave it with me and this was actually the price i paid for the car a few years ago although ive spent a few quid replacing everything mechanical and mods etc, that night i had a big think about it and kept saying to the wife should i just take it etc and there was examples on the web, next day he phones back and i thought sod it im gonna try for more as it wasnt my plan to get rid and i loved the car, we argued a bit and i kept telling him £3500and he eventually came up to £3400 final offer paid into my account that day so i accepted, people keep telling me i could have got more but i was happy with it so thats that and im waiting to buy the car back at the right price from the salvage company.
ive been told by an assesor who used to do this stuff an he said get the highest priced examples like yours to email them if need be then if you cant come to an agreement you can ask for an independent assessor who can view the car and give his price but bear in mind it could be cheaper than whatever you get offered but all this can take months, if i was you i'd do your research this weekend and wait untll they phone back and stick to your guns remember it wasnt your faultsome fool wrote your car off yet your being penalised.
i wouldnt mind but these guys offering you rock bottom prices are working for you as theyre supposed to claim it back of the other company yet somehow theyre trying to rip you off!!!

Hiya mate yeah i have read your post and thats why im so annoyed that my insurance are offering me such crap prices. I have sent them examples of actual 190 cars some with options that i had and some that didnt. The cheapest one was £2895. The one that came close to mine was £4199. The extra £100 pound they offered meant the salvage cost went up too. Not sure how that works. Luckily the car is on my drive so any salvage cost comes straight off the offer price. Im gonna hang on for the money i want or a reasonable offer at least. Think its gonna be a long drawn out process but we shall see.....

With regards to buying your car back did you not get offered that when the insurance gave you a payout. They told me that the salvage value was £616 as it was.

How can they use examples of 'the same car' when it doesn't even have the same engine?
I would be escalating it, and possibly going to see the citizens advice.

Hi pal my insurance who is Allianz told me I couldn't buy it back directly from them as it has to go to a salvage company and I can bid on it when it comes up for sale, I've been told by the assessor I knew that this was balls and I should have had a right to buy it back there and then but seeing as I was happy with the final offer I thought nothing off it and I might buy it back cheaper in the auction, then again it may go for more but I'm not too fussed if I get it I get it if I don't I'll buy something else when a decent car pops up!!
If they're not listening andyoy definately think it's worth more than the offer ask for an independent assessor, they have to provide one and it costs them more money but like I say he could say it's worth less than they're offering!

You don't always have salvage rights anymore.

If the car is written off third party ie not your insurance most of the time you keep it, but claim through your insurance and it gets written off its in the small print, that they keep the car. There in bed with the likes of co part who are paying over 20% for salvage

So glad i got my car delivered back to me by the bodyshop, when i found out it had been written off by the insurance company. Best £75 i have ever spent, id say with the coilovers, touareg wheels, adapters, red and black leather, rs4 pedals, dvd nav, votex rear, blue flame exhaust and high flow cat, s4 grills and all the other stuff that i cant remember there is about £3000 in parts with out the car, engine etc and the salvage was valued at £616?????

Good luck getting it back mate it would be a shame to see that broken up, try and find out how much they valued the car as salvage,

Not yet, i got asked again if i would accept the offer of £2900, my reply was no thank you, so it has now escalated to the next level, i think someone is coming out to look at the car and to see all the history i have. Got all my info saved for if they do just to show them what 190's are going for at the mo in mint condition. So its a case of waiting now and seeing what happens.

Have you heard anymore about yours or bought it back yet???

im just waiting for the salvage company to list it now then i'll bid accordingly, at least i know what it needs lol.
keep fighting pal, the way i looked at it was why should i or you be penalised because some other idiot cant drive!!

Nope, still not heard anthing im waiting for this other guy to come out and assess the car. Im going to ring tomorrow to find out whats going on as the car is just sat on the drive. Im just putting together a list of everything i have my car incase i decide to break it rather than repair, im not sure what to do at the mo. As soon as i here anyhing i will update....

are you doing this claim through your own insurance company? if so I'm stunned as it should be the bus company or their insurance agent who is paying for it. If you have a name for the witness who left the note I would suggest speaking to the bus company directly (who may stump up the cash) or if that fails and the witness is happy enough to make a statement then go to the police.
I was hit by an 80 year old taxi driver a few years ago. crushed me between the open rear door and the body while putting my son into his car seat. he was so past it he didn't even notice. I had to chase him and flag him down but the police took so long I had to go to hospital, then follow up with them later. I spoke to the taxi company and told my insurance company what happened. they contacted the taxi company and then the taxi company's insurance agent so arrange for the settlement.
if your own insurance company are acting like such d1cks and offering you silly money I definitely wouldn't take the payout and lose my no-claims bonus.
just my tuppence. good luck mate. it's a ****** situation.
