Hey,
Currently run 18's on my 1.8t but after hitting a cats eye at 80mph and setting the side airbag off I'm thinking 19's may give a tiny ride height gain whilst still looking low?
My audi

Cheers

Side air bags normally get set off accidentally due to the wiring in the seat wearing through due to the seat being used to let people in the back...

There would be a fault code associated to the triggering that would tell you why it deployed...

Fitting 19's won't help really... Lower profile tyre and will feel the bumps more...

is it not easier to lift it to a safe level, and run whatever wheels you fancy:banghead:. TBH 19's are too much wheel for the 8l shape and arch

Cheers for the replies but I'm fairly sure it's because of the impact from the cats eye to the subframe iv had it scanned but didn't really look into it as I haven't a clue
Any idea of how I'd look further into it ? And as to lifting the car up that's not what I'm after iv always ran my card low never had a problem just don't want to fit new interior and it happen again but I guess lifting it would be the only way.
Cheers

you'd probably have more luck on a forum like edition38 where they all try to look like twats scraping on the floor.
**** it, put 21s on, that'll raise it. What a practical solution to a problem :thumbs up:

Wasn't there a forum rule that says we don't judge someone else's styling choices?
Ofcourse there are consequences to such choices, that the car's owner will have to decide to live with or not...

I have mine on 19" black RS4's with a 25 mm drop, not as extreme as your car but it will give you an idea.

@jojo as if you need one!!!

But go on then for old times sake :)

Well as I thought that went down like a sack of **** and I'm running eibach pro street coilovers so the ride is actually quite good
And yea clearly raising it would be an option but I don't want to raise it just wanted to see if anyone with an 8l ran 19's and managed to make it work

There's very few members running an 8L A3 on 19s, I can't see how it won't work, you just run a lower profile tyre, and it will fit. I don't see how raising it a little will help with the airbag going off situation, it shouldn't be going off at all with the type of shock that comes from going over cats eyes. If anything, the ride on 19s will be a bit firmer than than 18s due to less rubber, and the ride height will go up a smidge. Even raising your suspension a little won't effect your ride, the spring rates are fixed, aswell as your damping.

Thanks for the reply

Yea I meant work as in it looking good but as said above 19's might look to big,
And like you have said my car has previously been a bit higher and the ride is the same
And by me hitting a cats eye I mean the underside of the car I.e subframe
Cheers!

Sump scraper!

I'm on 19" mtm wheels , lowered 20mm. There's a lot of speed bumps around my area which don't cause a problem as long as I slow down to around 20 mph.

Iv had the engine raised up 15mm to try and prevent sump damage and so far so good aha
I was told on another page that it could also be down to the fact of the passenger seat wire being worn as it used more often to let rear seat passengers in so the air bag is more likely to go off
However I don't know if that could happen
And Sean s3 there are many speed bumps around my way just slow down for them an it's fine
Cheers
