Much difference in offset 45 - 42?

:banghead: Literally hate offset, it hurts my brain.

The wheels I just had delivered are a different offset in as much as my current ones are 45 and these are now 42...despite ordering 45....

Anyway If I have it correct this will just mean that the wheels are wider in stance than what the current ones are by about 2/3mm...right?

I dont mind having slightly wider stance however.. albeit a small amount.
 
As long as the wheels are the same width then they'll sit 3mm outwards and will look all be it slightly better for it, nothing to worry about at all:thumbs up:

ah so i finally guessed correct lol. 3mm outward I suppose that will look tiny bit better. Everything else, tyre size, width, stud pattern etc etc is the same yes only the offset difference.

I know I'm jacking somebody else's thread and I apolygise but this wheel business is draining my brain too. Hope some can help I've got a a4 b7 sline 2007 I'm going to buy some wheels but I keep finding ones with a et of 35 now I now that means it will sit 10mm further out from standard but will this be ok. 8.5j too 9.5 with a et 35 will this work. Help me pls lol
 
That looks like it would be a massive difference.... use that wheel checker above in the link its a good tool. What is your current offset? If you have the DTM alloys they wont be anywhere near 35 offset so you would be looking at a difference of like 20mm!! and 5mm less clearance of the suspension I dont think that would fit tbh
 
My standard wheels are 18inch with 235/40/18 with et45
 
with those figures youll be looking at a change of 3mm less clearance (towards suspension) and 23mm further out (towards wheel arch) !!
 
23mmout wow that's loads I'm guessing they would sit way out lol
