AudiTTquatro 09 tdi : intermittent flashing coil and limp mode

I have recently experienced the intermittent flashing coil light on the dash board and the car enters into "limp mode" has anyone any ideas as to cause and how to correctly diagnose and rectify this problem
 
Welcome to the site.

It needs putting on vcds to see what's caused the limp or at least point you in the right direction.
