What coilovers are you guys running. Not a massive budget at the min.
I've seen some Fk's off ebay. Are they any good? Or can anyone suggest a decent set around £200?

I don't have any experience in this but those that do will probably want to know what car you have, how low do you want to drop the car, do you want harder set up etc ?

Had a cheap set on an Audi a6 and once the salt gets on them its hard to turn adjusters as they rust up. But I had a more expensive set on a Honda s2000 approx. £700 and they had a special black coating on them and adjusted real easy. So if you do go cheap then make sure you spray and coat them in something to avoid them seizing up.

I was lookjng at coilovers and the fks seem to be the best for that end of the market. Although theyre all pretty similar.

Best coilovers ive had hands down are the APs i had on my fabia. Went low, ride was amazing and they were good value. Theyre 500 quid though for the a4, so twice the price.

You could buy the fks, new top mounts and have them fitted for the price of the aps

Are they really more comfitable than normal s line suspension set up?
ummmmm....city driving, about the same, aps maybe slightly rougher...

50-60mph motorway (what i do...im boring...) aps are much MUCH better

65+ mph aps get a bit hard...although i do have them bottomed out :)

Thanks Jespy, think I'm going have to get to a meet and ask someone with the ap's to take me out for a spin so I can be sure its what I want for my car.

IL3888 sorry for hijacking your thread I will stop now :D

Haha no worries. Hi jacks are good! What issues can I expect by dropping my Avant sline on its ****.
Ie: my mk4 the ARB caught the drive shafts so had to get TT arb

I'm pretty low (AP rears as low as possible, fronts wound to equal rake) and i dont have too many issues. Exhaust is a little iffy on the left hand side (i have single exhaust) and i find that my undertray is getting A LOT of abuse...BUT the main part of the A4 appears to be plain chassis, not too much to hit...may be a different story for avant and/or quattro, i can only speak for saloon fwd :)

The joms are good for the money, go lower then the fk and ap's too. Had them on my old avant b7 but would recommend covering them in copper grease as they rust easy

i had the JOMS fitted to my advant before going with air ride. they were nice, drive wasnt too bad, did have bit of trouble ripping the undertray off a few times, so raised it again slightly. bonus with the advant is the underside is virtually flat. not really anything to catch.

Unfortunately, '£200' and 'decent' aren't really ever going to go well together.

For that kinda budget you're always going to be making a compromise. For the money you cant really fault the likes of the FK's or the JOM's - I ran with the FK's for a year on mine without any issues...... as has been said though, the adjusters sieze up pretty quickly. My advice would be to set them to a height you're happy with and never ever try adjusting them again haha :)

For £200 - take your pick from FK or JOM..... either will do fine. Just keep your expectations of them realistic.

But, for 'decent' - you'll need a bigger budget :)

Yeah I totally understand the whole you get what you pay for and buy cheap buy twice. Just im getting it remapped and DPF delete by R-tech which £500 Hence the smaller budget for coils. Although these won't be the final set. More of a stop gap.

I'm planning to use R Tech also, let us know how the remap turns out, before and after figures etc

If you have an avant or cabriolet, non quattro. I have some brand new AP's for sale. £400, i haven't even listed them yet.

All depending on how low your going mate is to what coilovers you want cheap ish ones go lower but if your not bothered about mega lows go ap. I've got cheap ish ones and there not bad at all but I want bc coilovers

Have you got a pic of your car parked up with your coilovers on mate ? I was under the impression they didn't go low enough as it says on the website.

Hmm that looks nice bud. When I replace my coilovers I think I'll go ap as I used to run them on my Fabia vrs

He see I had my coilovers replaced through warranty as the coilovers that was on there was dropping as if the seals are gone so the garage got fk and put them on. My choice I would of spent £700 and got bc
