So I have a A4 1.9tdi 130hp and my mechanic said my turbo are in need of replacing or refurbishment. Question is how can I use this opportunity to give my car more oomph in the performance..What combination etc like maybe turbo, mapping, downpipe or decat would give the best results. Also the smaller the cost the better. Although in South Africa your guys over here's knowledge on Audi is amazing!

I was actually looking for the bv43a here and on eBay and it is really pricy and scarce here by me. Looking at exchange rate I can pay I can easily pay 670 pounds excluding shipping from eBay

Not being funny but from experience mechanics often say turbo's are in need of replacement/refurbishment when they aren't. In terms of performance a straight pipe and map will be good, you can choose from a range of turbo's if you plan on swapping it out providing you get a matching manifold and downpipe or as said the BV43's a straight swap.

I have oil leaking out the turbo, so let's say I refurbish, decat, downpipe and map then what would I be looking at in terms of power?

Give or take around 180bhp.

Edit: Damn beat me too it, everyone's on the ball this morning haha.

That sounds acceptable to me, so now I the planning starts, thanks guys

Budget for a clutch too encase it starts slipping which it more than likely will.

You can get high bhp reduced torque remap that flaten a torque spike and is actually kinder to the clutch than a stock map.

I have the six speed box, ain't it suppose to be stronger then 5 speed box?

I can get you a bv43 turbo with a billet compressor wheel, stainless steel decat pipe and a map to suit, drop me a pm if interested. I can fit it for you at the same time if you wish...

The clutch is stronger in a FRK gearbox as it's 240mm as opposed to a 5 speeds 228 mm.

But the actual gearbox is weaker as diff bearing and linkage problems can be experienced.

This is because the VW 6 speed FRK is a copy of the earlier Getrag 6 speed ELN gearbox.
