Hello,

I was thinking the other day about my mfsw swap and the airbag light being on.

Is it not possible to buy an airbag module and have it coded to the car that is from an '06 onwards (dual stage airbag) car? and hopefully then the airbag will deploy as it should with no wire butchering?

Thanks
Alex

No one has found a solution to this, this is one retrofit I would stay well clear of.

Already done the retrofit - I figured i've already been in a car accident at speed and nutted the steering wheel so I've practiced? lol

Can anybody post a link to how to wire the airbag to get rid of the airbag light on an A3 8P? cant seem to find out how even on google

p.s I already know the airbag may not deploy, if I was bothered then I wouldn't have fitted it

Hello Muzzuz,

It was a case of buying another airbag loom and re-pinning it - I cant remember off the top of my head which pins go where to sort it without referring to the loom that I butchered.

Sorry I cant be more help, I could ask for the loom/try to get pictures of the loom to show what I did

Thanks
Alex

Yes mate that would be a great help. I just don't like the old looking steering wheel on my car. The one I have bought will look a lot better, just don't want that airbag light on.. Cheers Kyle

Also did you need to buy a different slip ring for behind the steering wheel?? Thanks

Hi Kyle,

I didn't need to buy another slip ring but that could have been because of what slip ring I have as standard or it could just have been the bodgery of it all as there's no guarantee the airbag will deploy with this mod - I looked at trying to swap the airbag ecu but no idea if it would have just been an expensive paperweight so didn't bother trying to do it that way.

Thanks
Alex

Right I got you mate.. Am I right that its just a case of the wiring inside of the steering wheel then? Thanks for the replys :)

Yeah basically, only butcher the actual loom as that's replaceable (ideally a spare as I did) - I might be able to get that loom I did back this weekend so I'll pm you about it if I do

Thanks
