Does anyone know how to remove the chrome exhausts tips for cleaning? and any tips for what to use to get them gleaming again.

Thanks

Can't help on the removal of the tips but something like Solvol Autosol should be good for cleaning them up :thumbs up:

Can't think why you'd want to remove them?

As per Bristle Hound, judicious use of Autosol on a long piece of rag or similar, applied with what I can only describe as a flossing action, should do the job. Polish off using the same technique with a duster or similar. Has worked on all our cars.

Similarly, WD40 is an effective solvent for exhaust soot and doesn't scratch the surface of the chrome.

Thanks for all the tips - I will take a look and buy one of the options and give it a go

The reason for asking how to remove M1ke H - I was thinking it would be nicer to take them off, put some newspaper on the kitchen table and clean the in the warmth and comfort of the house :)

Cheers

Meguiar's NXT Metal Polysh (yes, it is spelt like that!) is incredible stuff. It brings things up absolutely gleaming, doesn't appear to be especially abrasive (I use it on my delicate military medals with no ill effects) and seems to give a longer lasting shine than other similar products I've used.

What ever you use the key is to keep them clean, don't let the carbon get built up. It only takes a few minutes a week.

I had to get under the car with a small block of wood and knock them off with a hammer. They are on tight. Pushing back on is easy though
