I had my car serviced today at an Audi main dealer.

19000 miles, first service.

Oil filter, drain plug, pollen filter, screenwash (shame cos I know it was almost full) but only cost £148.25 which I thought was not too bad.

It was in the workshop for 90 minutes, that's including the airbag update. £90 labour,

But the first 25 minutes not a lot happened.... how do i know? My dashcam recorded it sitting there with the bonnet up but no action ;)

I did hear on the radio that Audi are doing their two services (one oil and filter and one major) for £299 for 2 litre and under cars 3 - 5 years old again.
I know this was a good deal they ran last year that was popular.

My car is under 2 years old so that does not apply. The 3 years and over offer is to try tempt you to buy replacement consumables from them (brakes, tyres etc) and is a bit of a trick as it does not include a gearbox oil change even if it's due during the post 3 year period.

Much was service all in mate? I'm booked in for first service on 24th January. £224 and Im
Supplying oil. + no screw wash...

It was £148.25 all in, I supplied oil...... and I also took with me a printed out email quote from a local VAG independent garage that the Audi dealer did a price match on :)

So i got a stamp in the book and an entry on the Audi database for same price as an independent ;)

Was initially quoted £313 including their oil

5 litres of Petronas Syntium 5000 AV 5w30 oil was £24, so total cost £172.25

Lucky you mate. Sent you a pm. I will try the same myself..

Audi in Belfast recently offered a deal for Audi- Sport.net members an oil, filter and sump plug
change including a complete vehicle health check and wash and vac (which I passed on for OCD reasons, lol) for £110.00 inc vat. Which I thought was a good deal!:icon thumright:

Quote Audi-Sport and any issues speak with Pat in parts! I had organised it with Pat myself when booking in Ruairi!

Pretty good deal is that :) I've got a servicing package on mine as part of the finance deal, and because it's had the 19,000 mile service already just before I bought it, one of those two will be the "biggee" that usually costs £350-ish. I've always thought the £200-odd it usually costs for the inspection service a total rip-off given what little work they actually do, but guess they've got us by the proverbials to maintain the magic Audi stamps in the book.

Although as it gets older, and once it's out the warranty period I always find they go through the thing with a fine toothcomb to find something wrong - call me a cynic.

Hey you hit the nail on the head there Rapid -> they sure have you by the proverbials especially as I can service the car myself and save on the labour costs its awful!

My question is why are the stamps any more magic than your own stamp if you are competent evough? I appreciate it for the 'good will' factor if something goes wrong with your car but it is a joke really even if you use audi genuine parts to service it yourself.

I had my old 54 plate A4 into my local audi dealer for an MOT a good few years ago, they told me there was a hole in the exhaust that would need repairing before the next MOT.....so before the next MOT i searched the entire system for this hole....well 4/5 MOTs later from independant garages and not one menetioned any hole in my exhaust so my trust in dealers is not paticualry the best!

Yes, Audi Preston are doing the deal for £299.00, which is for one big service and one small service......my car is not due for a service for another 5 months, but have paid my £299 up front anyways as I don't want to miss it :)

I'm lucky in that my local mechanic is an ex-Audi/VW man who used to work for the main dealers, whom I always use once the warranty expires. The great thing here is is that I can actually go under the car myself when it's up on the 2-post ramp and have a good poke about underneath and I can satisfy myself that the things that they say are wrong are actually really wrong.

I'm the same I've got a local garage whose an ex VAG technician who I always use but I'll be using Audi for my next service as the car will still be in warranty but I'll be taking it to my local garage first so he can give it a once over & if any things wrong with it Audi can fix it under warranty.
