engine management light has been on a while but the car drove ok,

past few days low power driving as holding back ( wee thud ) spring/coil light flashes on dash slightly more power not much. turning ignition on and of sorts it for fe minutes

well on way to the gargage today 4 times the above happens, last time on driving up a hill 15 - 25mph low power engine management / flashing spring lights on blue smoke coming out of the exhaust enough to worry me. but on she goes.

pull up at garage start her up again rev it a bit - black smoke

decide to take mechanic a run to show him, engine management light still on but full power she's flying so much so that his knuckles are white and he'd grabbing the jesus handles.

so to me and him it sounds like the DPF even the diagnostics throw up a sensor g450 which has been replaced twice. sound familiar to anyone. no power/then loads

P0299 turbo under boost, suggest mybe ( if you handy with the spanners ) take turbo off and clean out vnt vanes they maybe sticking. There are ways to clean the turbo still on the car but not sure what method to recomend

i managed to do the old mr muscle trick on my turbo, I didnt have any probs with it just thought that with the miles on the car it could prob do with it, it was a little bit awkward to get the studs off the exhaust side but once you do you can pry the exhaust back enough to get a thin flexi tubing/tape (homemade thingy) down and into the back of it,used a bit of card to hold the foam in then just kept going back to it and exercising the actuator every once in awhile. You could probably get your hand down and move the actuator before you did all this though and that would give you a good indication if it was sticking or not before hand, oh the air box will probably need to come out first, thats easy though.

I did the same on mine a few months ago, with the Mr Muscle. Its not gone into limp mode yet but the mechanic who remapped my car recommended getting the DPF done as well. I should have done them both at the same time only had the cash for a remap

Are you sure the car has a DPF??, If it's got black smoke out the back then it's not working very well.
Sounds to me like the DPF may be blocked ?. The blue and black smoke is from the heat in the DPF caused by the blockage . Why have you been replacing the G450 sensor ? this measures the differential pressure across the DPF, If the DPF is blocked then that pressure will be high which may trigger an event .
Running with a blocked DPF will knacker the turbo and the engine . Don't drive around with the engine management light on it's usually trying to tell you something. The car is going into limp mode to protect itself.

it threw up 2 faults at the begining one was linked to the g450 sensor i think. but we used a second hand one and a week later the fault came back so repaced it with a new one.

it went through a forced regen at the same time so that should have cleaned the dpf.

he's dropping the car down now, i post what he says shortly.

now throwing fault code for the g450 again wtf !!! but no p0299

we may have stumbled across a potential cause tho.
for a while the car wont always start ( prob poor battery ) because when we reset the fault code and clear the warning lights the car drives 100% but if we have a failed start or sometimes just starting the light will come on

probably be handier removing the dpf and deleting

heard 40hp more and 12% better fuel economy any truth?

I have seen this done on you tube videos only. But may be worth a try to prove a blocked DPF, undo the nuts on the downpipe for the turbo, only enough to allow exhaust gas to vent from there, if it drives OK then it's probably blocked. If there is an excessive amount of pressure in the exhaust it is likely to damage the pressure sensor, they only have a limited range of operation.
This is something you only want to do for a few minutes and not flat out.

reset faults going ok plenty of power all is well/ boom now throwing fault codes for central locking and traction control haha. is it possible it could be an electrical fault???

no dpf is still in the car. (decided not to take it out ) engine management light off no flashing coil.

ive been out in the car 3 times and stalled once and it still trouble free < faults usually came back after 1 start

central locking working again :)

traction control light off o_O

so hopefully this is it, if not a forged regen + new g450 sensor ( i'll make sure this is adapted to the car) + full filter/oil change. mr muscle the turbo and give the EGR a cleaning too.
