Dpf removal expectations

Have a look at replacing the rods that actuate the swirl flaps, the ends of these wear and the small amount of extra movement will cause the problems you are seeing. I replaced mine recently, easy job to do and about £30 for the parts. Have a look at my build thread linked in the signature .
If you are looking for somebody to make mapping changes to the car I can strongly recommend Rick at Unicorn Motor developments who mapped my car. He is in Stockport so not too far to go.

Karl.

Forgot to mention Karl I have replaced the rods back in April, doing this put the engine management light for a while but its back on again now :-(
Cheers for the heads up with Rick, I'ill give him a call a take some advice as to which is my best option?
My car is a fairly low miler for a dec 2006 car (Only 47k) so am surprised I'm getting this problem so early on ...

dt-tdi as far as I understand the remap should remain the same. The egr delete will keep engine clean, dpf I would advise to keep but gut it, and map out swirl flaps. Plastic parts can be changed if motors are ok but even though I had a new 10k engine a year ago I had them deleted, got fed up with flashing dash from blocked dpf, I now have piece of mind. I expect tuners will want to charge you for the full package again though.

I have a 2007 2.0tdi 170 non quattro

Had dpf internals removed and stage 1 map by R Tech.

Car is estimated 215bhp, only guessing roughly as I pulled away from my mate in his bmw 330d 204bhp

Best thing I ever did and torque is crazy!

Think I need to get some quotes for both options.
Karl (desert storm) has recommended Rick in Stockport for re-mapping, ideally I could do with finding someone who could do the mechanicals and remapping (if needed), I don't mind traveling to the right person if the work is right.

Rick has a garage next to his place and uses that for any mechanical stuff that needs doing. I had the DPF removed when I had my car done and it was done in the garage. The guy who did the work was very competent, the EGR was disabled on my map but a plate was also installed in the intake to block the EGR.

Estimated? I thought R-Tech (assuming its the one in Hinckley?) only do custom rolling road maps, or did you use the mobile service?

i have my quattro 170 BRd engine remaped up to 204 and 420Nm dpf deleted but Egr is still on place !
I'm very happy from the torque and power ... my car is 140k miles on clock and cluch start slipping but i will change this week !!!
I pass MOT first time with no advisors !
Everyone who still think about that my point of view is - JUST DO IT !!!!

R-tech's diesel maps arnt custom rolling roads ones' just petrol 20VT and TFSI etc
Not sure what you mean here? "Just petrol 20vt and tfsi etc"

As in do you mean they only do custom maps for aforementioned cars

In house custom rolling road Remaps are for only ECU MED9 (Tfsi) and ME7 (20vt) cars
Well that's not what they told me, ****** liars...

Do you know them them?

They told me it would be a full rolling road custom map for my 2.0 tdi 170, is it not possible to do that on mine then?

i don't really want generic map uploading as surely it's better to map each car individually

im not saying that. you best off asking Nikki. from what information ive gathered seen etc the only fully custom tailored remaps written from scratch where the ECU's ive listed in my previous post. they the ones he specialises in. i cant answer and questions for him and so on.

Well you kind of did, you said they only do med9 and me7. So I guess if you don't know what they do...

The specialise in custom in house Remaps for those ecu' that's what they do' they also offer Remaps for other engines and even marques' I'm not getting to much into it as its not my buisness. I'll leave it at that. And not mean too ed one bad word either so don't think that, personally think nikki does very well at what he does with those me7 med9 ecu's quite a clever man

It's being remapped as well mate along with the internals of the dpf removed and re welded back together

How much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking? I'm starting to have the dPF light coming on and off started about a week ago now. Not long had the EGR replaced. Cars already supposed to be 200bhp so they said when I brought it.

I paid £450 for dpf gut, egr and manifold flap delete and map. No smoke, seamless gear changes and pulls like a train, I never get bored with how well it goes.

Where did you get that done mate?

Cheers Andy, I've just been quoted £449 for a dPF removal and to check my remap. Sounds a bit expensive?

Adam they will have to map out the dpf so probably why they are still charging that, its a pig job to remove and gut. Suggest you gut and leave in place for a visual mot check. My egr was blanked and mapped out as well. Mot at moment is smoke test only though as per my mate who is an mot inspector. I would expect new cars the law will change but we should be ok. You cant believe a dpf was an extra back in 06 that someone ordered on my car. They are a pain! Try doing a constant 50mph in London to clear a dpf for 20mins I think not.
