Car buying was never so difficult in the past. I'm looking at getting an S3, Missy Red with black pack amongst other things. Went to another dealer today, thrashed out a really good deal that I was more than happy with, then just at that "Well, shall we go ahead with the deal sir?" I swivel round on my chair, coffee in hand and look transfixed at a Sepang Blue with chrome....
Really struggling with red/blue, blackpack/chrome or not, will blue show the swirls and scratches dilemma...
I'm just going to go to Nepal and be a monk, lot less hassle and cheaper in the long run!
Apologies for the ongoing saga folks, just want to get it right and I know that its all down to personal preference.
Cheers in advance...
:nogarors4::redrs4::confused::confused::confused:

Not Sepang? You really want the Misano with the chrome, much nicer and easier to keep. The blue gets very dirty and doesn't look good at all and a pig to keep up to the mark.

But you've got a Sepang haven't you Steeve?

Sepang with chrome and added chrome rails for me, on order. Current sprint blue s3 does show the swirls but exclusive blue epitomises the S and RS brand for me!

Thats what I was thinking Jimbo, just really concerned a ear down the line what it'll look like swirl wise. Think the black pack grille looks the mutts nuts though.

I love my sepang blue S3 with chrome but everyone is getting it. I'd go red and be different haha both look good either way!

I've never really understood this. Get the colour you like and the colour you're going to enjoy looking at on your driveway and when you take that 'one last look' back at when you're walking away having parked it. Sod what other people have got, denying yourself something you want because some else has the same is barking.

I was only messing. Of course go for the colour you want. Loads of ppl had sepang when I was looking, didn't stop me.

I like red as well but personally I've always wanted sepang

Haha, here we go again, it feels like déjà vu.

Any colour will show swirls, trick is to avoid getting them in the first place. Or get Opti-coat/Modesta paint protection (they normally do a paint correction first), then the job of keeping your car looking shiney and new is so much easier.

For us, it was always going be Sepang Blue, even considered paying the Audi Exclusive premium for it, but luckily it became a standard choice on the MY15 spec.

You are looking for a right and wrong answer here.

Its not multiple choice where one is correct and the other isn't.

Theoretically, if you bought both cars and kept them 3 years, then sold them, there would be times when you like one more then the other, and vice versa. And ultimately, at the end you decided you like them as much as each other.

So you may be looking for an answer that doesn't exist.

Got to be Sepang out of those two choices.

Just buy a Meggs G220 polisher to keep it looking nice and treat the paintwork nicely (i.e. no mechanical car washes and use 2 bucket method yourself) and it will be fine.

I'm pretty close on the Sepang guys, thanks for all the input, like you all said, just personal choice. Now for the icing on the cake....black pack or chrome with or without rails...I will be having a pano roof.

keep it simple, go for everything black....including the rims

Just to add for me any new car i get i take to a pro detailer and get a ceramic coat like gtechniq or gyeon. My car is swirl free and gives me peace of mind but just dont take it to a car wash. Do it yourself properly or get it washed by a detailer. I paid £500 for all paint, glass, wheels done by gleam machine (rob leyes) from essex a veteran with car detailing.

Mmm, you noticed that?

I'm leading the charge to prevent Sepang S3's becoming like black model T's...........

It's a bit of a joke really.
However, let me talk about Sepang as I see it. It is a beautiful colour, looks great with the chrome or the black pack. But honestly I've never come across a colour that shows the dirt so much. it's worse than black. Its also a pig to clean shows the slightest mark. I think so far I've definitely spent more time cleaning it than driving it. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to car (and motorbike cleaning).

Would I buy pick the same colour if I was ordering again? Probably not, I'd think seriously about Glacier (already had one of those or Misano which I really love too.

But you're spending your hard earned cash so you must let your heart rule your head.

Seeing that you have the pano roof,
I would go for black pack. Without
rails. Sepang.

I went for Red, walked into the dealer and saw the S3 Sepang with black pack, saw it wasn't an exclusive, expensive paint and instantly wanted it. Then I took black pack out, too gangster for me.

My two previous A3s were grey and silver, the grey showed up every single swirl, minor scratch and dirt patch but was easy to clean, silver was easy to clean and maintain.

I am struggling a little to keep the Blue clean, even when washing it, dirt doesn't come out without a fight so I've started snow foaming, shampoo, rinse, dragons breath (if needed), rinse. Not sure if it's the dealers protection applied or something else but it had a scratchy/rough surface feel until I snow foamed it.

Now that I reflect on it, I would have gone for Silver but that's personal preference.

Lastly, when SB is clean - well, no more words need be said :thumbs up:

I think the chrome is tacky on all colours - Too Jaguar and too beige trousered for Audi's. It should be banned,

I'd go for Sepang if its a Saloon or SB but Misano if its a proper 3-Door S3! :undwech:

Out of your choice, I would go with Sepang and chrome, I think it ties in better with the mirrors. No rails for me, makes it look too much like an estate car.
