Just Had Apr Stage 2 Re-map On My S3

Just to resurrect this thread,
I've fitted a forge twintake to the S3 and guess what?.......It now misfires above 6k rpm!
The car is APR stage 2 with full tbe and forge twintake. I've done a little data logging, measuring bhp from airflow and it only shows around 290bhp. I was getting almost 285bhp before the map with the tbe fitted.
If this is the same issue as experienced before with the fuel pump, can I check that with vcds?
The car also did feel quicker with the standard airbox and pipercross filter in.

Yeah i've heard that said before but the car seems to run perfect apart from the misfire over 6k, exactly as the OP had.
Can you check fuel pressure on vcds?

Had APR stage 2 and a forge twintake on my last tfsi 265bhp
Misfired at high rpm. Twintakes not compatible with APR software.
Disconnect your maf and the car will run fine.,
That's why I went Revo this time so I can fit what I want.

Ok this is the log file, maybe I should of logged the maf as well but that did top out at 232 (/0.8=290). Comments appreciated.
I've now got the oem filter back on so i'll log the same again for comparison
The first peak in rpm is in second as the dsg dropped a gear even in manual mode

So misfire is gone with OE filter back on!

I to can only echo the above comments never heard any good news about the twin take to be honest

Yes misfire gone and feel's more alive. Not done any logging yet on the oem filter though, that second log is from back to back runs with the twintake.
No misfires on the second run either, must be down to the ECU pulling back

Thats great news mate!

I would get a Revo CAI on there people have seen 12-15bhp with just this alone, love mine and can't recommend it enough

Least it was a simply fix :)

Yeah but i really wanted a sealed filter to keep the noise down.
Shame about the twintake as i think it looks mega when fitted

I honestly don't find the Revo to loud at all! Shame you can't get a shot of a S3 first with one fitted to see what you think mate

I find intakes annoy me with noise especially when off boost and driving slowly.
I've tried just about every intake for tfsi and can't live with any! My k03 car liked the twintake and noise was acceptable but on a k04 they're pants.
What I've ended up with albeit expensive is a Revo intake with enclosed pipercross venom filter which cost £100!!!!!!
The result is my makes the same maf readings as the Revo filter so my car goes great with less than 1/2 of the noise.

...im running twintake on mine n to be honest it goes damn good, made 352 on rollers, was told by amd n few other guys on here the same thing that twintake ain't no good, but i love the looks, n on my car it seems to work just fine...pos i would c few more hp n torque, but hate the look of that big ugly filter...

Yep instant improvement on the stock filter and backed up by logs showing 18g/s more flow which is roughly 25bhp.
Still want a sealed intake though :p

yep unfortunately there isnt much choice and I know what I say, I've been through many of them you name it Twintake, VWR CAI, AMD intake and finally found peace with REVO. None of the others were giving acceptable fuel trims, all this shows how difficult it gets to design a well performing intake and to make it enclosed is nearly impossible due to the fact that you get too much turbulence that affects the trims therefore you only really find open filters available on the tuning market

You can try carbonio but its neither cheap or as good as REVO

Stage 2+ requires the upgraded High Pressure Fuel Pump and an uprated clutch and flywheel to see more potential.

Did they apply the stage2+ map knowing that it needed an upgraded fuel pump?

Do you need a fuel pump for stage 2? Mine is 340bhp on the standard pump. Will it be running lean?

The stock HPFP will be at it's limits around that point, and you should be looking at an uprated pump such as the Loba or Autotech if you plan on any more power.

I found peace with ITG...LOL

It's not a looker in any sense, but it is effective, although this is not the one that VWR now sell.

I am looking to go down the itg route, although like you say it'll probably be the VWR intake. This is the intake APR sell, so surely will work with there software.
I did exchange a few emails today with Forge and they did say they had a new single filter intake coming out in the next couple of months which had been tried on Revo and Giac but not APR as yet, they did agree though that APR are more sensitive to Maf placement than others.

Marshy, can you post a link to the filter you fitted, I've got the Revo intake and can't stand the noise and would love to reduce it. Cheers

I bought it through a shop on eBay who had it up for £109 but I got it for £100 with next day delivery
They're not selling any at the moment but Google it and you may find a bargain.
It's a pipercross Venom VM7000

was it a straight fit or you had to modify any parts?

No modification just had to slide the silicone joiner back another 1/2" that's it.

Excellent thanks for posting the pic, I can see how that will work. Did you mod your existing engine cover of did you buy another a chop it up? I bought the TT cover for mine but think the original looks better.

That's the one mate
I didn't fit the pipe and I removed the light grey end the pipe attaches too, it just unclips.
I bought a used engine cover from ebay and trimmed it, it still uses the 4 mountings too.
