Hi everyone, happy new year.

Had my mot and service done this week, mot was fine but they mentioned a couple of advisories, mainly small oil leaks from the cam covers. Had a good look through elsawin but struggling for some info, main question being does the timing belt have to come off for the job too ? If so I may well do it at the same time as its pretty much exactly 4 years since it was replaced.

The other advisories were heater motors, alarm horn and rear arb sleeves. No biggie.

Hi, thanks for the reply. No it's literally the gaskets on the camshaft covers that need replacing. Will check out your link though cheers.

I did my nearside one on my 2.4 V6 petrol (Not diesel as above)

No need to remove cambelt cover and took about an hour to do in total but I do advise using an instant gasket too

I used an Elring one and remember there is an inner one (3 rings that seal the plug holes) and the main outer one that stops it all dripping down the side of the head.

Cheers guys. Much appreciated. Now all I need is a dry warm day !

Thats exactly what I bought.

Once changed I took the headlights out so I could spray engine degreaser and get the jet wash on it and the under side of the heads you cant see from the top to remove any oil.

Nope......Just the rocker cover ones as thats the ones that normally leak
