Well then , since exhaust tips are a fairly hot topic at present can anyone expand a bit further on the subject.
before i make any informed descision on which type to go with and fixing method, another key question is the type of sound differing tip styles make, i know it may sound silly but from my experience different types and shapes do create differing sounds when gas is exiting the pipe.
So then , having no tried any as yet specifically on my a4 avant , my question to those that have is, whats the score then.
1) is there any noticable change in tone etc.

any input would be great.

no change of sound at all with just tips

ok thanks for the info i'll get straight onto getting my choosen tips now.
I must say though from previous experience i have found that the way exhaust gas exits differing shape tube/pipe at varing speed did change the sound/note.
prime example being this, on my racing duke with termis on, when the silencer has a short exit tip approx 3" long which is 50mm dia stainless straight tubing the sound is quite crisp and metalic sounding, if i swapped to the same setup with same silencers but with a slightly curved outlet but in 60mm dia tube and with a thicker rolled edge the tone is a much deeper tone with an allmost burble effect , this may sound stupid but thats what i have observed as have others.

I was led to understand that the sound waves that are being forced throught a pipe at differing speed that is open ended will naturally change if the outlet section/profile changes shape and also material of the pipe will effect it, the guy did explain the science behind it and it was a quite complex thing, someting about sound waves resonating through a tube etc.

anyway thanks for the answer guys , just thought i'd get some feedback from hands on a4 modders etc.

Bikes yeh as it's such a short system, cars not so much if at all!

Hi Rob, be interested to hear which trims / tips you have found, looking for a pair for mine, the existing tail pipes look pretty tatty, so a pair of nice polished stainless jobs would tidy things up at the back (car is same a yours !)
