hi I'm Dan, I've just purchased a 2001 Audi A4 1.8t.

The car is fine apart from the standard radio not working? It a chorus tape radio with Bose and I'm wanting to change it? At the moment the display is all distorted and the sound is coming and going. I'm thinking of changing it for a aftermarket one as a replacement ones are looking expensive on eBay? I'm not looking for anything fancy just the radio to work. I've tried looking online for information on what I need or should do as its a Bose radio. I'm thinking of just getting a cheap aftermarket one but would it be a straight plug in of a aftermarket unit or will it need adapters etc?

not a direct plug and play

you will need a harness and a live wiring in

not a hard job to do

If I was you i would get a direct replacement. Is it a double din or single as i may have or know someone who has a bose stereo for sale.

I'm not too sure if I'm honest. Would it be easier just to look for a OEM radio?

How can I check if it's double or single din?

Is it the same size as a normal stereo, if so it's single din.
With you having the bose system, anything other than bose stereo will sound horrible.

the bose sound can be nullified by simply earthing one of the wires which leads to the amplifier so do not worry about this

If I bought a aftermarket stereo and connector would it work even if I lost the use of the Bose amp?
