Hi again chaps,

I've posted about this noise previously and still haven't managed to get it fixed (classic mechanic with a noisy car!)

Basically I changed complete front suspension arm kits, springs and shocks along with b5 cups and fitted a set of 19 rs4 wheels (not genuine rs4 but audi and friendly offset). Also new discs and pads.

Since then it's had a knocking noise almost like you have a stick stuck in the tyre and it knocks the inner arch as it goes round. As it's been quite a while now I've sort of narrowed down the times it happens.

If you brake it stops, I've since refitted the brakes and nothing wrong. If you steer slightly to the right it stops, but straight ahead it happens from fairly slowly up to about 50, steering left make it worse almost instantly.

With Windows open you can hear a slight brake scrape noise but the noise in the car is a fairly heavy knock, you can feel it through the floor just, so louder than a tap.

The wheels are very close to the suspension, but no clean patches or sign of running on the wheel of suspension. 4 wheel alignment has been done.

It's almost sounding like drive shaft or wheel bearing noise but fairly unlikely.

Any technical people have some theories I can look into? I'll probably have it in in new years day to fix it once and for all! Maybe even refit the under tray and arb I've been meaning to for months!

Any info appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark.

Hiya mate, also getting something similar it's not constant but happens every now and then. Also seems to be when driving straight and slightly left. Mine is more of a clunk/knock but can't find anything loose. And appears to be the drivers side

I have this all the time, / had this... I found it to be the upper arms knocking as the bolts were never loosened when the car was lowered and then tightened while the car was fully down on the ground (pit is required)

I made sure to tighten the bolts with the wheels loaded. I was on a two post ramp with an assortment of bits of wood stacked into an axle stand and feared for my life! But it was done properly!

I'll report back once I've had a look, thus weekend hopefully.
