Took these pics in Bromley earlier today. The drive had hit a signpost headon, flattening it in the process before coming to a halt right up against a lamppost. I just hope no one was hurt.

It doesn't look as if the airbags have deployed. Hopefully nobody was on the pavement as everybody would have been OK in the car.
The aluminium crash bar on the front didn't do a lot.

lamposts are notorious for cutting cars in half, even a low speed collision would do some serious damage.

I know about hitting lamp posts, Knocked one to the ground about 28 years ago when I hit it broadside in a Dolomite. The car bent around the lamp post on the passenenger side, and ended up sitting on top of it fortunately nobody was in the passenger seat as it wouldn't have been good.
Then 5 years later managed to hit another one myself about 400 yards up the road when I had a motorbike accident, spent 6 weeks in hospital with a pelvis fractured in 3 places and a dislocated hip.
I really don't like lamp posts.

****** lamposts always getting in the way.

Judging by the time of year I'd assume either the car slipped or the driver had to swerve for some reason.

Dolomites always had more power than grip, didn't they?

It wasn't the power that caused the problem it was the car that pulled out from the junction on the left side of the road to go straight across, the car in front of me did an emergency stop so did I. The Sierra in front just missed the car that had pulled out but had to mount the kerb to do that, I was doing my best to avoid the Sierra and the car that had pulled out and the back end of the car decided it wanted to overtake the front which is when I spun into the lamp post.
There was torrential rain at the time which didn't help and the car that pulled out just did a runner with not a scratch on it. The Sierra wrecked a wheel and tyre and the Dolomite was completely written off.
Not a good day.

Ouch. Thankfully no one was seriously injured as this could have been very ugly.

My next purchase will likely be a good dashcam

I got mine from halfords over the holidays, its a nextbase 402G its a bit bigger than some but wouldn't say bulky, it's hidden behind my rear view mirror, quality of video is really good, and added bonus was for me if I have any problems with it then I can just pop into any halfords for a replacement, I did have another off ebay but it played up, I then had to post and package it back to seller, which for me was too much hassle.
