And mapping I can take it anywhere. Just because darkside is number 1 in the uk for tdi tuning doesn't mean I have to get the part from them or take my car to them just to do the work.
Diesel Jake is right there are not that many tuners in the country who can do a good job with non standard set ups. Big turbo's and uprated injectors are not something most people come across on a daily basis.
There are plenty of people who say they could map it and I am sure they could but to get the best out of these set up is not as easy as you seem to think.
I don't doubt that you are very good with metalwork and fabricating an exhaust or a manifold but that is only part of the work, the magic really happens with the map.
I myself don't rate Darkside they tune lots of fast cars and turn upto the pod with some very quick mentally tuned cars but they aren't reliable as a daily.
Here is the one that turned up at the GTI festival at Santa Pod this year.
It arrived on the back of a transporter they stuck all the stickers on it and got it booked in. As far as I know it never ran at all, or blew up on the first run because the next time I saw it was them loading it back on the transporter.
This car had easily run faster than what I could do but it's not reliable.
Here's my trophy for fastest diesel on the day
I have mapped my previous AWX Passat estate myself with a BV43 to 207bhp and 345Lb/ft of torque and done all the mechanical modifications , exhaust, intercooler , turbo etc myself. That would give a Civic type R EP3 a run for it's money at Santa pod running a 14.95 at 93mph. So I have an idea what I am talking about .
