Fans turn on when flashing ECU

Hey guys,

I noticed a strange thing on my A3 BKD 2.0TDI. When I start uploading a new ECU map, engine cooling fans in front turn on and stay on until I am done flashing.

Is this normal?

I assume you're regulating the battery whilst uploading maps given fans kick in, tbh afaik its a given when mapping.

Sorry, I didn't quite understand what you said, but I take it that this is normal?

When I started flashing, the fans kicked in and I used power cables to connect to friend's car battery to avoid losing voltage.

This is normal on some cars becouse fan controll module lose connection with ECU during programming. disconnect fan power, or use good battery charger to be safe.

The best solution is to disconnect the connector to fan or remove fuse to be safe. this is most stable solution.
