Firstly, hope you had a great Christmas and are all safe and well. I see the UK and Ireland are having some of my weather.....we are at -11c with a few cm's of snow but nothing to write home about. The Mrs managed to freeze up the washers today and the headlight washer passenger side was solid.....my fault really, should have known the Audi Elves wouldn't fill the tank or top up the anti freeze!
How are you all fairing?

Just rain in sussex,if we get some snow I'm wondering if the wife,s B6 S4 or my B7 3.2 will be more fun.

Jaysus, the way the media were portraying It, you'd have thought the entire UK had turned to Ice Station Zebra! Glad to hear most of the regions are ok. Managed to thaw out the bus last night with extra heat and a bit of WD40.

Some areas of northern England, Scotland and NI have been hit, but elsewhere is fine. You know how we like to make a drama out of the weather here!

Been down to 0 here, car itself handled it fine, although the snow on residential roads ended up pulling my front splitter off... time for a new bumper!

Its really not that bad guys, start to panic when its half way up your car doors and you cant get in or out for that matter.
british winters are really overated, and people just dont have the proper driving skills or sense to deal with adverse road conditions.
i drive all year round and have done all my driving life and have allways managed to deal with the conditons presented to me given the driving equipment i'm in.
half the problem is having the wrong tyres on , you could have 6 wheel drive with diff locks and low range box but with wide & low profile etc summer performance tyres on you are just going nowhere fast.
classic example, take a trip up to our local sainsburys on a day when its been snowing( sleeting to be exact) and there is a few mm on the ground, you can be assured that there will be a heap of 4x4 all stuck , the normal suspect , range rover sports etc/ bmw x?? series etc etc all on silly rubber for the time of year.
in comes a guy in a little old suzuki sj413 jeep on winter tyres and has no probs at all, well to be honest even a lot of 2 wheels drive cars with decent winter tyres get around fine.
just common sense to be honest and a lot of driver just lack that .
you need to adjust to the conditions and that means road condtions and the overall driving condtions around yourself.

Totally agree Rob. Once you have tried winter tyres am convinced there would be no going back......yes I know the arguments for and against using winter tyres in the UK, however, the benefits would way out the costs long term. Oh, and if anyone is thinking they can buy a cheap set of 3 year old winter tyres on Fleabay and they are sorted....don't! Same rules apply for buying winter tyres as summer ones, good brand etc.....also the tyre compound of the winter tyre hardens through use and age, so a 5 year old winter tyre is as much use as a chocolate teapot in Winter!

Safe sliding,

My old man thinks having the handbrake up half way whilst driving his 2001 honda civic makes it 4 wheel drive. FML :keule::confused:

Just wrapped on some winter tyres on the s4 and they are awesome! Drive through the snow a week ago or so and not a single problem. Can't recommend them enough!
