My drivers rear brake pipe has started leaking at the union !!

Need it fixed asap think it needs cutting and re-flaring but dont have a flaring tool or hack saw, any ideas as to what i can do as a stop gap till im back in work monday ???

Yeah had ago this morning took it for a spin and its worse, thinking of disconnecting it and crimping the pipe over and disconnecting abs controller just to get it to my work monday morning ? My other option is drive it to a near by garage and have them cut it and re-flare it in situ.

Its a brand new pipe but my mate who had the flaring tool did it with the wrong punch then the correct one so think thats the problem it was abit of a rush job tbh.

Well you know exactly whats wrong with it then.Sounds like it has always been leaking since the new pipe has been put on. Disconnecting the ABS won't make any difference at all to the amount of fluid lost from the system.
If it leaks with only a small amount of pressure on the pedal then you have an issue as you can't really drive the car.
If you need a good amount of pressure to get fluid leaking then you should be ok to drive it to your mates to get it sorted.Or probably better a garage who know what they are doing.

Karl.

He works at a garage, so just needs to get it to work to fix it.

24 miles is a bit far, but i guess it depends how bad the brakes are. As karl says, If they actually work and acceptably stop the car, but are just leaking then a careful sensible drive to work with minimal use of brakes should be doable. If the pedals in the floor and theres fluid pouring out then your going to have to fix it locally or perhaps use a breakdown service to move it to your work.

I did the pipe awhile back so its not been there since fitting as the pedal has been great until now and i do drive it like sterling moss most tge time lol and it actually brought the low fluid light on so its only just started as i check the levels at least every 2 week.

I know disconnecting the abs controller wont stop it leaking i meant the electrical side of things due to wanting to crimp of the brake pipe and run it to work on 3 calipers with little brake usage and no abs to cause any issues. It would be just like running it with a seized caliper then.

I have breakdown cover so thats another option, might be a 5 in the morning job get over a 1/4 mile from my home address and get it recovered to work. As im covered up to 50miles.

Got it recovered this morning drove it to local petrol station so want at home address.

Ordered both rear subframe brake lines from TPS for £42 inc vat.

Anyone know if rear frame needs dropping to install OEM lines as when i fitted copper one i could sort of bend it to shape as im aware OEM are coated steel lines ??

OEM are kunifer on the subframe. They go over the top of the frame though. You might struggle to get them in with it all in position.

Well ive cut and pieced in a small pipe as the side i needs on back order, think the issue is due to the actually fittings we have we don't have any with the extra lip after the thread so its not seating the pipe until the last bit of thread, least its fixed for now and i will have some nice black ones at some point.

The under floor pipes and the ones up front are, plastic coated steel or aluminium i think. The two pipes on the subframe are kunifer.
