hi hopefully be able share experience and knowledge with everyone on here, only other vag car I owned was a Passat 1.9tdi that I had running 210bhp left vag for bmw driving an e39 530d for just over 12 months before getting a bit bored of an open diff and only other proper diff option being a £1500 quife managed 260bhp out of that then traded it in for the new steed, a PF a8 d3 3.0tdi I do a lot of motorway driving and I'm 6'6" so it fitted me and the bill nicely, this thread is worthless without pics so here's a couple.

And finally the a8, few things on the mod list but has pretty much most things I'd want to fit, remap at some stage as it'd be rude to keep it at standard power :)

Thanks Karl, it ticks all the right boxes for me, I'v been lurking on your build thread already ;) it does well on the quarter mile too but that doesn't surprise me lol!

If you was happy enough with him then I'll deffinately keep him in mind, need the auto box servicing and a software update as I get the hooting on WOT

Have you EGR deleted your karl? Iv had a look but couldn't find anything, will be giving the intake a decoke hopefully over the crimbo holiday

You not been out in the snow yet? Iv just had a play, I took TC off but didn't turn it all off completely and its a big barge to go sideways but still did it with finesse when there's enough room, quattro is so much fun haha! Puts power down in an amazing way.
 
oh and it looks very knowledgable on here too, but hard for the a8 platform regarding forums but I can still cross reference on here with other models Atleast ESP as mine is also the 3.0tdi, thought about the 4.2tdi obviously but the £550 a year tax put me off tbh, plus I got this car for an absoloute steal if I'm honest.
 
Not been out in the snow haven't had any need, and it's not that deep really. If the TC is the same as mine if you press it quickly it just turns off the EDL but hold it down for 5 seconds or so and it turns off the ESP as well.
Rick has done a few 3.0 TDI's off here, really knows his stuff.
The A8 is well thin on the ground compared to the A3,A4 but as you say a lot of the hardware is common across the platforms.

Mine is the same I think a short press brings the light on then a long press puts the light on then it'll go out and disable the system till its reset from the ignition, earlier I had given it a short press putting the TC light on and put the box into sport and had the back end out and 4 wheel drift, if I was silly I could feel the ESP still cutting in and stopping power but I could still spin the wheels up and send it sideways with ease, was fun even if a little big for the little streets lol!

The big Island by my moms I gave it a poke sent it sideways then came off the island put power down and did a 4 wheel drift till I came off the power, in just the wet it can be a little snappy if I leave just ESP on and I try and provoke under steer, other than that I'm honestly well chuffed with my choice of motor, as I'm pretty sure you are too as from your build thread it's gone exactly the way you want it too and who can moan at 300bhp

I might give him a call at some point and see what he reckons a live map might come too.
