Hi everybody :)
Been reading alot of peoples build threads so thought i'd share my progress so far!
I purchased my 2001 a3 from my cousin in april this year and tbh since then i've had a few issues but im getting there with it and still enjoying it.

So here it is roughly a year ago:

And here it is at loch lomand last week:

When I bought my car it had a couple of mods (in hindsight i regret would reccommend anyone going to modify any car to start from scratch, only my opinion though) these included a powerflow cat back, remapped (have no idea where from or any proof just that it is apparently 200bhp but i doubt that!) a dump valve re located to the cold side of the intercooler, and f*****d coilovers which had collapsed on the o/s/f lol so... That was first! I bought some JOM coilovers and fitted them straight away to get it driving

After that my oil pressure dropped and had to replace the pump and also had to replace the crack case breather hoses and oil cooler breather, wish i just fitted an oil catch can though and removed the pcv...:keule:

since then i fitted a toyosports decat and downpipe reccommended on here:

and now my clutch has slipping so i've bought a vr6 clutch g60 lightened flywheel & forge short shifter to replace the dual mass with :)

Thats all for now, been fun so far! still waiting on my clutch & flywheel getting delivered was thinking of doing a write up on that in the next couple of weeks! Got some other plans, want to get rid of the dump valve, forge TIP etc just see what happens!

Cheers :hi:

Very nice mate :) I think a mapped AUM is well within reach of 200 hp

Cheers lads appreciate it! @Prawn i had a read at your track a3 build, that is one awesome car aswell mate!
Well it should roughly around 200 bhp once the new clutch is in, would like to get it dyno'd at some point but lots of things to see to first ;)
And i was VERY lucky with the oil pump, its just proof though that people dont lie when they say the 20v engines are bulletproof!
Today i went and started my car and one of the other vaccum hoses going to the oil cooler and inlet has split had to tape it up with electrical tape to stop it from bringing in too much air!:( So i'm really considering looking into fitting an oil cooler, and deleting the PCV in the next couple of weeks!

:hi:

Weeellll! Its been an eventful few months of being an a3 owner

I spun out on black ice into an old womans iron fence just after christmas (the fence only got repaired last night for anyone who cares) lol

i then resorted to this to get me about untill i got a new bumper - might aswell have a laugh about a bad situation lol my car has a stookie!

so then the parts were ordered in:
New bumper (number plate recess is getting smoothed off)
G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch
Forge quickshifter
Lower gearbox mount
2 x lower wishbone arms
2 x toyo proxe T1R 225/45/17
Toyosports front mount intercooler
Universal 2.5inch boost pipes
Ramair filter & heatshield
and various other things like led's and what not

Audi sport 1

forgot to get any pics of the gearbox being out and clutch going in, my clutch was well done in though!

so now the fun stuff has started! i put my quick shifter on once i knew the clutch felt ok the way i was used to and so far i love it! Still getting used to it but it gives you a much better feel, kinda hard to explain but its good!

Me and my mate then set about getting the intercooler done :) its pretty big compaired to the bolt on ebay kits so at first i was going to do away with the air con, but then opted for trimming the crash bar, i looks awesome though i love it. We made up a subframe for the intercooler which means the full crash bar and intercooler assembly can come off in one piece and then be bolted onto any mk4 platform by 6 bolts!

here it is:

im going to get my universal pipes tig welded together and ones that are silicone joined are getting a bead welded on the edge then the silicone clamped over them (will post pics). This was the temp finished outcome, ive mounted my DV on the cold side and the pipes are just silicone joined together, i've ran this to see if any of the pipes rattle or knock at cruising speeds before they get welded in place.

....And tonight they are back off! sending them away to get tig welded then my new bumper can go on, cant wait!

back to this for tonight lol

The car is driving better than it did when i bought it with all the work i've done over the past couple of weeks, cant wait to get it out and enjoy it more!

Cheers!
