Finally got the finger out to crack on with finishing my DTM bumper. I had lost heart in it and it was for sale for a while but it not selling and managing to pick up the missing bits I was needing was the push I needed to finish it.
The hardest part to find was the carbon splitter but eventually one turned up in Germany and was dead cheap compared to others I'd seen. When it arrived could believe my luck as it was in great shape with only one chip out the clear coat. A bit epoxy resin then sanded back and polished made it an easy repair.
The smaller 4 side grills were practically impossible to find so went to Audi for a price, £99 delivered so was quite happy with that but wasn't really impressed with the mesh in them, more of a hatch than honeycomb. As I had planned to cut down my RS4 grill to fit the SE sized grill of the DTM so I wanted them to match. Luckily a guy local to me who had bought a set of my wheels had mentioned he had a set of new RS4 fog grills so got bought them from him for a good price(cheers Jamie). This meant I was also able to keep my fog lights instead of deleting them for the DTM. A couple of nights with the dremel chopping out the DTM mesh and loosing the RS4 surrounds then combing the DTM frame and RS4 mesh and fog light surround left me with what I wanted.
Next was the most nervous part, I was a bit scared of chopping and potentially wasting a ridiculously priced piece of plastic but it had to be done. It turned out quite easy, chop the lower section off a SE grill and remove the slats then fill the holes they left. Remove the lower section from the RS4 and resize then glue on the left over bit from the SE one using the SE chrome bit to align and secure. Some plastidip got rid of the chrome on the rings and surround.
Mounting the fogs into a bumper that wasn't designed for them wasn't the easiest but patience, a dremel and some time got them done. Got a couple of wee bits to tidy up then I'll be done, my only issue now is the weather. I'm not so keen on putting it on the car with the weather we're having now so may be spring until I put it on permanently but itching to see it on the car so will be a having a trial fit session up at my work(heated work shop).

Some pics,

This pic shows the size difference of the grill(had also dabbled with a cupra splitter before the original one turned up)

Fog lights grills done,

Nervous chopping,

And done!!

thats excellent sir, your a real pro at these mods, looks the biz in that red, top man.

Nicely done, but if I was you I would wait until the worst of the winter weather has passed before fitting it.

That looks stunning mate, some top quality work

Wow, That is top quality work,
The DTM should have come with a honeycomb grill as standard as the look so much better

Do you still have the RS4 grill forsale? I've got my full DTM kit to paint between Xmas an new year so may look into this. Not bothered for the dog lights as my Intercooler piping is going to be in the way (plus I never use them)
The more I read and look at what you've done, my opinion is what an outstanding job! Even down to the gap between the fog light and the grill is perfect. Well done! Most impressed! Looking forward to seeing this on the car!

Thanks guys, took me a wee while but got there, still not had a chance to try it on the car yet but soon I hope.

Craig, yip grills still here. Fog lights were the hardest part, had to trim the bumper quite a bit to accommodate them but finding a way to secure them was tricky. Glad you noticed the gaps as they caused me no end of grief, hard to get one right but was even harder to get the other to match. They look horrific with the grills removed, made little brackets to hold them but still had a bit of movement so out came the Tigerseal. It really pulled me out the **** and firmed them up good and proper, really impressed with that stuff. Funny thing is I find them pretty much useless and never use them either but I like the look and wasn't sure if you could code them out to get rid of the warning if I'd removed them.

Did you buy a yellow set by any chance???

Yes mate, bought the yellow set which came with full tailgate and boot spoiler. Managed to get the spoiler off in 1 piece as well to my delight. I may just purchase the grill off you, but I'm gonna paint the Se grill first and see how it looks. There's a big chunk out of the carbon fibre splitter unfortunately as well. What did you use to repair yours?
Have you got a different A4 now then? A red one?

I thought so, I had almost talked the guy into posting them up to me but then he vanished and so did the advert. Was a bit gutted and immediately went on the hunt again, it the exact same night I found my one. Brand new bare bumper for £340 so stupidly just bought it without really thinking about the cost of the other bits, glad I saw it through now tho.
Once thoroughly cleaned the chip out I filled it with epoxy resin and sanded back, flatted out with w&d then polished, came out quite well. Mine was deep but not very wide so was quite simple to do.
Yeah, changed to a red avant now. Prefer avants and it's a lot more practical for me. Swapped over the big brakes and some other good bits from the grey one then sold it on. Stuck coilovers on it and been through a few sets of wheels but happy now, love having a red car again.

That is my kind of A4!! That looks the tits! Really wish I had gone for red calipers as apose to yellow now but hey, suppose it's different.
I had to drive for 3 hours to get them tbh. I've got a rear DTM bumper that's being repaired as it had been melted behind it, should be in top shape ready forsale in January. My panel beater has been doing bits on it here and there. Probably be up for sale in the new year, haven't seen a DTM avant

That's an amazing job Alan.
Looks good. Will the bumper fit straight on with the fogs? I wasn't sure if there was some of the chassis in the way or maybe just with the RS4 grill's sitting in a S-Line bumper as looked before and relocating the fogs looked as tho the would hit?
Good to see the grills used to good effect.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice:cool:, yep B7 avants are nice:), well when they are working properly that is;)..

Once again....great the bumper looks spot on....

Good to see something different.

Look forward to seeing the finished project
