Hi Guys,

I just thought I'd finally Post up some Pics of my Monsoon Grey S3 Saloon, that I've given abit of a 'Clubsport' theme to it!

I wanted to try & keep it looking as 'Factory' Audi as possible, yet still make it look a cut above a Regular S3, so I Opted for a Set of the 20" RS4 5Arm 'Rotor' Style Alloys in Gloss Silver, with Continental Contact Tyres.

The final touch was to Add some A3 'Clubsport' Audi Ring Stickers, on the bottom of the Rear Doors, in Matt Silver, which finish it off nicely!

Looks very nice buddy. I like, a lot !

How do the 20's ride in comparison to the standard 19's?

Thanks for all your Comments guys.

You need to get msw 26 for the wheels to match clubsport

I think the A3 Clubsport looks Fantastic as a complete Car & I really hope that Audi Releases a Saloon version of their New RS3 in the near Future, that looks similar to it, but personally, I'm not a big Fan of the Black/Polished RS6/MSW26 Alloys that are on it.
In general, the Style of them is too Flat(I prefer the Chunkier Dished look), the Colour/Design makes them appear smaller than what they actually are & against Darker colours of Bodywork, they don't make a good Contrast!
In my opinion, the Clubsport only pulls it off, due to the sheer size of them being 21"!! Any smaller, they just wouldn't give the Impact of a Gloss Silver Alloy!

needs lowered - sitting far too high.

I still think the Car sits fine as it is, but considering the Eibach S3 Lowering Spring Kit.

Amazingly enough, the Ride/Drive of the Car feels virtually unchanged, so all good!

Cosmetically, just considering swapping the Front Grill for a Gloss Black Honeycomb/RS Style one now!

Sorry to be the voice of dissent but I don't feel those wheels do anything for it at all I'm afraid. Rotors are starting to look very dated now, especially as just about every chav in a cheap used Audi seems to have a set of them round here.

Hi Vertigo,

I wont take Offence to your Negative comment..........we all have different taste!;)

I know the Rotor Design Alloy has been very Popular in virtually the whole Audi range, over the past year or two, but 99% of the time, you see them in the Dull Anthracite with the Polished Edge, which almost makes it look like a totally different Wheel!

When you look at my Car BEFORE & AFTER, theres no Competition........the Silver Rotors make it look loads better!!

I was going to the say the same but when both pics are next to each other, the rotors definitely set the car off. Any more mods coming?

The rotors make it look like an old A4.

I too wasnt crazy about the rotor wheels, but they look good in silver and in 20". I think a nice drop will set it off nicely

Not a fan of the wheels. your s3 looks more like a cross between a saloon and a mpv car. Either it needs sitting down more or smaller wheels. 20s looks a bit big.

Its always intresting to hear peoples Comments............Good & Bad!

When I first Bought the S3 Saloon & it had the Standard 19" Star Design Alloys, everyone that saw it said that it was a very Smart looking Car, but the Wheels let it down. When I asked them why, they thought the Anthracite colour on the Alloys was too close to the Monsoon Grey, making it far too Dull(whereas Dark Wheels can make a nice Contrast on a White or Red Car).
They also all thought that the Star Alloys were 18", as they looked lost in the Arches...............they were Shocked when I told them that they were 19's!!
With those Comments, me not particularly being keen on the Style of them & preferring Silver Alloys, it Persuaded me to Upgrade them & go for 20".

Maybe the Photos don't do it the Justice it Deserves, as the Car looks nothing like an MPV in real life & the Ride Height with the 20's on is unchanged from the 19's!
I don't think its 100% necessary that the Car needs Lowering on 20" Alloys, but I would agree that some Lowering Springs would further Improve the look of it...............I just wouldn't want to have it 'Decked', like a BoyRacers Car!

The Question is WHICH Lowering Springs would be the best to go for??

Whatever Colour Car you go for, the Design, Style or Colour of the Rims, there will always be some that Love it & some that Hate it..............we all have different tastes, which makes life more intresting!:)

I love the look of your car Especially since I got your oem wheels which didn't look good on the monsoon grey they needed to be hyper silver to complement the grey hope you've. Had a great Christmas mate

def needs some springs....riding like an X6 (sorry for swearing) at the moment.

The problem with lowering is that it will change the whole feel of the car. If you like the oem ride then don't just go for springs. A full kit is what you'd need or you'll be forever wishing you'd changed the shocks too.

On another note I have to say that I love this look, and to be fair, it's your car and all you're doing is sharing another way of doing it. Boo to all your Christmas party poopers!

Another issue is the wheels themselves - are they genuine Audi ones or reps? If the latter then a lot of replicas are significantly heavier than OEM Audi wheels. Changing the unsprung mass of the car will also alter/harm the handling.

Well, coming from a Fully Loaded RS4 B8, one of the most noticeable Changes I noticed in moving to an S3 Saloon, was how Soft the Suspension is.........even in Dynamic Mode!!
With that in mind, even in Adding a Lowering Spring Kit, I cant see it being too Bumpy!
These are'nt Budget Rotors, there proper 20"x8.5J ET45's on the Factory Continental Contact3 Tyres!
Besides, when you look at all the cheap Replica Rotor Alloys, they don't Fit properly, as there all 20"x9.0J, so too Wide for for an A3/S3..........unless you had some crazy Offset, which would look awful & make it Handle badly!

Mate, car looks great. Agree you need silver rims against the grey paint.

It does need lowering to finish it off tho. The springs of choice for the saloon seem to be H&R supersports. The give the perfect stance whilst maintaining close to stock comfort. Eibach seems to sit *** down/nose up.

Sorry Audiboy but I do find them too 'retro' but as long as your happy that's fine. Look easier to clean.

I think it looks ****** lovely!

The bigger wheels suit it well and needed to be silver but I'm personally not a fan of the stretched tyre look.

Maybe if you had the msw 26 wheels it would look better, but at the moment looks like you're taking one step forward, two steps backwards

You can hardly call them 'Retro', when Audi are still using them on Brand New RS4's, RS5's & RS7's!!

As I've said before, personally I'm not a huge Fan of the MSW26/New RS6 Alloys, specially in the Black/Anthracite/Polished look!
I could only live with them if they were the same Size as the Clubsport Concept(21"), in Silver & in the right Fitment(8.5J), but there not Available & won't fit the Arches of a Std A3/S3!

By the way, with the Size & Shape of the Rotors, there an absolute Dream to Clean.........no Grit & Brakedust sticks on them at all!!

Apart from the 4 rings sticker logo on the side I can't see how it resembles the A3 Clubsport?

Realistically, nobody can currently make their A3/S3 Saloon look just like an A3 Clubsport Concept!

All 'us' Enthusiasts can do, is give our Cars abit of a 'Clubsport' theme.i.e by Adding Larger Wheels, Lowered Suspension, Audi Ring Stickers & perhaps a Black Honeycomb Front Grill!

Personally, I was only giving my S3 Saloon a slight 'Clubsport/RS' Style tweak, which is all good fun!

The Clubsport Concept appears to be running something like a 21"x9.5J New RS6 Style Rim, which looks well in Proportion to the Car & Fits perfectly, due to the Wider 'RS' Arches & probably a different Track width.
The MSW26 looks like a Budget Replica Wheel to me, but looks pretty good Quality nethertheless. The only one you could Fit properly, would be a 19" version, as that has an 8.5J width, but gives nothing like the same Effect as a Clubsport 21"!! They look lost in the Arches & almost appear the same as a Standard OEM 19" Star Design S3 Alloy, so pointless in my Opinion!!

NEW RS6/CLUBSPORT REPLICA

FULL ON 21" CLUBSPORT

Other New RS6 Replica Alloys that I've seen Offered in a 20" or Bigger, are atleast 9.0J Wide, so aren't suitable for A3/S3 Saloons!.............unless you have a crazy Offset, where there not sitting under the Arches, making them look stupid, would possibly Limit/Prevent Lowering & could possibly run over a Pedestrian! :-D

Damn it. Someone shows me Monsoon Grey again and I have second thoughts........

I can't say I care for the rotors (a little too last decade or nineties), but they still look nice on the car.

What's the deal with being precious about the rim width if the wheel offset accommodates it? Are we really getting excited over half an inch??
