hi all firstly a merry Christmas!

I've got an S3 8L and I was wondering which turbo it has?
It's a 2001 AMK engine??

Thanks!

There is no way an S3 AMK runs a KO3 turbo! It wouldn't even make 210bhp for standard!
It will be a KO4 if it is definitely an AMK code engine.
And merry Christmas to you too!

lol
all s3's are k04!
regardless of engine code!!

k03 on a big old s3 would be tragic!!!
std 210 s3 is tragic!!!

so isit a k04 turbo then haha? its booked in for a map in 2 week

thanks guys

thanks pal,
what will it remap to then, only having stage 1 revo, would it remap to same power as bam engine or not?? ino the bam has that variable vavle timing, correct me if im wrong at any time!

amk also has vvt i believe
revo will be realistically 240+
but its all roller dependant mate
im not a great fan of revo as its a generic map and on these older cars i dont think its a great idea but it will feel a huge difference from standard!

oh right i didnt know that thought it was only the bam which had that!
right i see, the only reason i went for revo as was recommended by others and offer was on for 260 over crimbo, so you saying it wont be relible or just not as much as custom map?? how will the clutch deal with it?

revo is ok
stage 1 will be fine
its dealer dependant though
the car should be fault checked and smoke tested which may or may jot happen at a revo dealer
would do with most custom maps
clutch will cope if its not too worn
its a suck it and see thing im afraid

yeh thats fine dude, its only done 50k clutch feels like new if im honest!
would they map out cat light (decat) or is that for custom map only??

you would have to ask the dealer you are going to fella

ahhh the classic Bam misunderstanding.
i was asked whether my car was Bam the other day as soon as i said i had an S3. I said no AEB, had him fooled

isnt yours a BAM karl?
thought you had a proper s3 ;)

Custom will always be better than generic, as long as the tuner knows what he's doing.
Some custom maps can be absolute *****, all boost and nothing else etc.
At least you know your car will be within safe parameters with a Generic Revo map,
Car should checked for boost leaks at a minimum though, which a lot of Revo dealers don't do,
But you could always ask before the map is loaded.
