My Sat Nav will not give me GPS position so Sat Nav will not work. I can enter address but the signal will not pick up.
How can I tell what system I have? I think being a 2010 last facelift before platform change it would be a 3G MMI ? And assuming from the fact that there's no SAT NAV DVD in the Drive which I have only ever used Movie DVD's in, the SAT NAV operated from HDD.
The symptoms are that the map was just showing the Sea zoomed out. I enter address but then no search pick up of current location and then error voice message. It worked fine up until month back,

Also to add to previous post VCDS will not communicate with Navigation when you click on respective button on VCDS screen.
No errors showing on auto scan ???

From your description you have MMI 3G+. MMI 3G does not allow Movie DVDs to play through the Sat Nav DVD drive and you mention you have a HDD. With no GPS signal it sounds like the aerial has failed (not uncommon). You need to find someone with VCDS to get them to check the fault code.

Have you checked the receiving number of sats?

How do I check no of Sats ?
I have VCDS but when I tried clicking 'Navigation' on VCDS it wouldn't communicate with controller.
Also autoscan did not throw up anything.
In regards to DVD drive that's for Media not Sat Nav I'm 99% sure mines a HDD

You don't need to try communicate with navigation you need check faults in 5F information electronic because there is no separate navigation unit also you need check how much satellites it recognize if 0 then 99% possibility that antenna is defective.

Best way for diagnostic is connect other GPS aerial directly to main unit

As stated above the main navigation is now part of the 5F module on MMI 3G (facelift A6). It's a common fault for the GPS antenna on the roof to fail, expensive option is to replace the antenna, and a cheap solution is to buy one of these and stick it behind the dash http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GPS-anten...S_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item4184716a55 I would also check the roof lining around the antenna for any dampness as the seals may have failed and water could get into the car...
