My rear washer jet isn't working on my A3 Sportback.

The jet isn't blocked, it isn't actually trying to squirt it, just setting the wiper off.
If i spray the front wipers i can hear it wirring away, if i put the back on, then nothing makes a sound.

The car is going in for a service next Saturday and if i know what it is i can get them to fix it (if it needs a part) .

Does anyone know if there is anything obvious to try? I have checked the fuse for the rear and it is fine (the wiper still wipes).

Is the pump one for both the front and rear?

I believe there are two pumps?
one is located in the rear behind the carpets in the boot?
Ive heard that the hose pops off and that just leaks liquid in the boot?

It isn't pumping at all, There is no noise - i assume the pump is faulty?!

I can't see any wet patches in the car - Do you know how easy it is to fix?

Really Depends on what is broken...

see if you can locate the pump. and throw a multimeter on it

YeahI saw that one, thing is when i pulled the back apart there was no pump that i could see, just a straight through pipe..

I have looked on Elsawin but i can't find anything?!

I have followed the pipe through the boot lid into the car and down the side but there is no pump there.

There is no noise of a motor coming on when you try and turn it on it just doesn't do anything.

I have 900 miles to do over the next 7 days, i wont be able to see out the back of the car :-(

check the fuse first but there will be a separate motor for the back

Checked the fuse, all fine (that i can see). Can not see the motor anywhere in the back of the car

pump will be on the side of the screen wash reservoir at the front. motor is behind the boot paneling, have you managed to get the paneling off?

Yep stripped the entire boot down. The tube runs from the wiper arm, on the driver side through to the boot, down the column (didnt remove) then behind the side panelling down by the seatbelt to the floor. No motor anywhere from what i could see.

If you can't hear the screen wash pump working and the fuse is ok I would say it's the wash pump on the reservoir.

In my 8L S3 there was two pumps in the fluid bottle in engine bay.
I'm surprised no one has helped and said "yes, mine works and you can hear the pump in location x" !

Really strange...

maybe the switch for rear wiper on stalk is broken?

I did think that, not sure how easy it is to prove though?!

Well i was kinda hoping for that lol!

ya would be a separate pump for the rear one

Try change your stalk.
Mine went mad and started wiping 24/7, now I don't have any wiper back at all :) rubber plug and some vcds, now driving in harmony again!
