Hello Lads and lasses,

I have the Red Airbag light on my dash, My car is a 2010 s3 SB. Nothing has been touched it just appeared two days ago.
Ive tried resetting it Via VCDS and the light went out but came on 40miles later.

VCDS says

1 Fault Found:
9437467 - Igniter 2 for Driver's Airbag
B1001 1B [136] - Resistance Too High
MIL ON - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00000001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 22
Mileage: 83096 km
Date: 2014.12.10
Time: 08:39:25

Could this be the airbag loom.

Cheers in advance.

Dan

I'm so puzzled on this one airbag has been removed today and all the connections cleaned, still the light comes on.

Dan

if its the steering wheel airbag light it will be the clockspring thats bad maybe just on the end ,which if your careful you can repair it . or it could be snapped further on

I had this but on passenger side, cut connector out under floor under the seat, and removed back panel off the seat and cut the connector out too, soldered them back up, and cleared the light, gone now! Hope this helps!

Hello,

Cheers for the advice but it's the airbag in the steering wheel that the issue is, I had the connector under the seat in my last mk5 golf on both sides which was annoying lol.

Once again cheers for your suggestion.....:icon thumright:

No problem mate must of read it wrong lol! I agree with the possibility of the clock spring? Any noises coming from the wheel? My megane had this problem, straight in , straight out and fixed it! Just need to make sure you line everything up when replacing wise it will snap again,

Cheers pal.

Come to think about is yes there is a rattling noise coming from the dash/steering wheel area been doing my head in for months, I've had all the wiring on the drives side cable tied up I've even put foam sponge in any place I could think of.

The clock spring is also called a slip ring right!
Maybe this is it.:audibash:

Cheers Dan

I know this is a very old thread, but I have the exact same fault code in my A4 from 2010. Did you ever fix it and what was the solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Yes fixed in the end, Changed out the slip ring/clock spring. Seem to fix the issue.

Cheers Dan

Hi Dan,

That sounds great. Was it easy enough to do? Any tips, tricks or notes if I want to do it myself?

How much did you pay for a new one?

Not really any tricks, just disconnect the battery, as the airbag and steering wheel need removed.

Upper and lower columns need removed and the steering wheel controller and remember the price, was with the receipts when I sold the car.

Cheers Dan

Cool.

I found a couple of videos where they are removing the steering wheel, airbag and clock spring. I know the first is not on an Audi and the second is for B6/B7, but is the procedure somewhat the same to what you did.

Thanks again, really appreciate it.

Best,
Simon
