Hiya guys just a quickt question I've been looking and looking for weeks if not months now, what I want is to be able to control my using my rns-e unit so I want the ipod all locked away in the dash and to be able to use the ipod to the full using on the buttons on the radio one question is this possible on the mk1 rns-e ? And if so how ? Also I'd like to see all the song names, albums, artists l thst, is the alpine interface the only route ? Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Kind regards Chris :)

why you want to use Ipod ? why not using Sd card which will make you wishies - real and will not spend any money ? Why you want so many leads on the back of the sat nav - driling holes for Ipod jack etc etc ? If 4Gb music is not enought for you - Just grab RNS-E mk2 and sell your one ... probbably will pay 100 tottaly and you will have 64 Gb music ( 60gb real ) - in that case will have info on the FIS and ENDLESS music ...Hassles FREE !
Sorry if i give you suggestion whick you do not want but ...

I have the connects2 kit in my s4, allows full use of the steering wheel buttons etc but won't show track names etc... Well worth the £40 I paid for it

Thats one of the limitations of the older RNS-E system......it's unable to read track/filenames via the aux or changer input. The RNS-E 2 systems (has MEDIA button in place of CD/TV) do offer increased SD card capacity, but still seem expensive in comparison to modern aftermarket units that offer additionl funtionality.

As with most things in life......its down to budget and personal choice.
.

Rns-E mk2 cost like 450-550 - if you have bluetooth ... so you will have sat nav, telefon and media with 64 GB music... what else you needed in the car ? I don't need tv or other stupid things .... I have 2014 sat nav map, bluetooth and enought music :) that what i want !
If you buy some aftermarket Sory, pioneer or whatever is -
1-st look a bit ****
2-nd you will have the same option as Mk2 ....
what else you need .... but yes like GoneSouth said - it is down to the money and PERSONAL CHOICE
I choose Seat Exeo Mk2 Rns-e and i will never go back ...
Even in my B5 i use Rns-E whick cost me ....arm and a leg to work 100%

Mmmmmmmm.......32GB memory card !!! I can only dream :)

Love my RNS-E but am sure many will be tempted by full postcode, touchscreen satnav, full-on IPod integration and full bluetooth streaming functionality a modern system has to offer.

Only one thing for it then.

Dear Santa.........
.

show me how it is look :lick::jester: - i have all that ... in different way but yes i got it - half postcode and list of the streets in that ME17 (example ) (redwall lane) so this is not the issues ... what for is that Ipod when have 64GB music which is ENDLESS anyway ? And i will pass the touchscreen i as do not drive VW GOLF mk3 .... to upgrade it with touch devices
Like we all know - Personal choice

Sorry, not this xmas........I must be on Santa's naughty list.....er, again

Dension will do all your after plus Bluetooth, only shows the tracks on the dash display tho and not the actual RNSE, controlled by steering wheel controls too.
