On the plus side though it's a nice quality, feels pretty solid

I went for the chrome one for my car, IMO adds a bit of bling to the front, I had a black grill previously.

What's the deal with the black thing where the rings should be?

I do see the attraction of the gloss black one it does look very mean indeed

No black ones in the warehouse so going to go with this instead of waiting I reckon.
Got it off amazon, £150 delivered. Got it in about a week
The black bit is a cover plate over the ring holders (packaging)

It's not a genuine Audi part orange1, the genuine RS4 grilles only fit the facelift 2012 onwards A/S4s. This is a replica part to fit the pre-facelift models.

You could always vinyl wrap the chrome surround black.
