Today I noticed my passenger side headlight was yellowish compared to the drivers, when looking closely it appears to have some sort of muck/mist embedded on the inside of the clear cover not sure if that is what is causing the yellow tinge but now I know it's odd I'll have to do something about it as my OCD just won't cope. Is there any way of splitting or is it a new pair of headlights for me :/

split it

heat gun working your way around and prise it off

it seals back up with the glue that's already there

just a bit of heat iv done loads of b6 b7 and one B8 was ok after

Will give that a go over Christmas then, worst case I'll f**k it up and have to buy new ones lol what would be best to clean the inside with? And should I put any kind of sealant in there after to protect it from happening again?

no idea what to clean with
just the normal damp cloth ?

If I'm splitting them I may just be tempted to black the Inside of the headlight

im thinking of pulling mine back out and blacking them inside

There i s a kit call headlight repair kit from meguirs which would repair that

Yes I know the one but the misting is on the inside of the lens unfortunately :(

When your headlights get mist and fog and condensation inside and it sits there then it will cause the lens to get a foggy haze, I have seen it on a few headlights I have worked on, the moisture will get in and won't go, till summer but by then the lens have messed up.

Take the headlights off, remove ballast and rear cover and heat the lens off, then split the headlight and clean it all off.

Thanks for the advise will be doing it as soon as I get some time to do this, is it easy ton remove the headlight or is it a bumper off job? Thanks

Can you give any tips on the actual process of splitting and cleaning then sealing again? Will I need anything special to clean them? Also I will do the outside with something whilst they are out would you recommend any particular product? Much appreciated

Just a bit of an update, ok so I finally got some spare time so I thought I'd have a go at removing and splitting my headlights, anyway I started the car to defrost while I was working on it and popped the bonnet, as I got to the front and lifted the bonnet I saw the passenger light flicker and come brighter, so now the yellow look has gone and they both match, little strange I was thinking maybe a faulty ballast but as stated previously the DRLs were yellow looking too so maybe just a loose connection or something I don't really know. Anyway I have checked it severel times today and it seems to have stayed the same all day. Still going to use the megs headlight restorer on the outer of the headlight but won't be splitting now unless that haze on the inside gets on my nerves.

Hi guys i cant really help much with your problems but i can tell you the headlights are pretty easy to split as i have just done it this weekend with a hair dryer, wide flat screwdriver and a stanley knife. If you need more info on the process pm me and ill get back to you.
Also dont go too crazy on polishing the lights as they have a lacquer type of coating on them and this can be buffed/ sanded through like paint on a car.
