Hi,my missus has a 2004 A3 TDI (non air-con)and the heater fan finally gave up after a few months of rattling and banging,(bearing collapsed and wrecked the armiture).breakers yards near me dont have any so im wondering if a fan from another car would fit?ive heard a mk5 golf one will fit but cant get one of those either.do any make/models use the same fan?also do air-con equiped and non air-con use different fans?thanks in advance

I installed a brand new heater fan in the car last night but it will only work with the control set on 4.it was the same with the old fan but put it down to the old one being knackerd.is there a seperate control box that might be blown?car has just the 3 circular controls and no aircon

There is indeed another module, called heater blower resistors. My circuit diagram also shows that there is a small fuse inside. However, when set on max, the fuse is bypassed, so this could be the cause of it only working on max. Good luck.

Cool, thanks.il have a root around and see if i can locate it.
