Hello,

I'm here to get some opinions really.

A local country road was recently changed from 40 to 30 mph. There is only 1 sign showing the new 30mph limit. There were some contractors (apparently acting for the police) who set up a mobile camera. I'm pretty sure I was just over 30 when i went through it.

I'm waiting to see if I get a letter now. Now, is it possible to argue that its a new change and the 1 sign was not clear? And I presume if its the police and not the council, I can't even attend the speed awareness course?

What a potential Christmas gift from the police.

Get back there and get pics of the sign(s) and explain that its changed etc.....also get onto pepipoo website, someone on there will be able to help you.

Hopefully it works out for you :)

Thanks Nilz, will do that and see how it goes.

Contractors?
@dieselguy sounds to me like it maybe the people from that village have asked for the speed to be reduced.
The police/ council sometimes give them a mobile camera to keep a diary of speeding motorist.
IF this is what you seen you don’t receive a fine or points, but maybe sent a letter of warning from the police.

Sounds like this could be the case (well I hope so anyway). They did look like local pensioners to me… and they were "ambiguous" on who they were, just saying they are contractors for the police. I'll wait for the letter and see what happens. But for now, its Christmas holidays.

Happy Christmas everyone!

hahaha, contractors, I've heard of some funny stuff on here but that's hilarious, love to see where this goes, keep us up dated. Worry not me thinks.. 2 signs, one each side of the road with new limit shown, speed awareness courses are acceptable. Where are you btw

I was in UK last January and could not believe the no. of cameras you have. My wife is from SOT and when we were there I struck a road called ? Dimity or Divity that had so many cameras in a straight line they looked like street lights. I thought it was a bit dangerous because you spend that much time looking at your speedo you get distracted from the road. Mmmm We would have 1% of your fixed cameras but we are starting to intro "contractors" into the mix. Our highway patrol have mobile cameras and there are average distance, point to point, set ups at spots on highways. These are "supposedly" just for trucks. That will change.
