Hi All,

I've just bought my Audi, It has an RNS-e there is an old (nokia) phone mount in the arm rest which i obviously pretty useless these days lol.

The aim of what i want to do is to be able to have my my iphone6 connect with the RNS-e for calls(either bluetooth or cable). I'm not too interested in playing music from my iphone in the car so that's not a worry.

Is anyone able to help me find out what version of RNS-e i have, what sorftware/firmware version its running and what i'd need to do to achieve phone connectivity?

Hope that makes sense,

Thanks,
James

Have you searched to see if you have Bluetooth fitted ? The cradles are just usually to charge and give better reception. The phone still connects via Bluetooth. Don't think Audi do a replacement cradle for the iPhone 6 yet. The old cradle can be removed if you yank on it.

Switch the engine on and search on your phone for new btooth connections. Should come up with UHV Audi ****

Should be good to go after that

I did try searching for it under Bluetooth devices on my iPhone but found nothing.

The cradle has a multi pin connector in it not just a charging pin, could it be that the old Nokia setup was wired to the head unit?

Is anyone able to help me work out what I need to bramble to fit Bluetooth?

Just been out and had a play with the car during my lunch.

This is the phone cradle I was talking about in the arm rest.

And this was the sw/hw info I found on the unit itself.

Thanks for any help.

What year is the car. Mine was on 07 and had btooth fitted, however your cradle looks a little older than mine.

True way to tell is to get it on vcds and scan it.

Its an 05 plate so an early B7.

I'll dig out my cable when i get home and take a look on VCDS. I'm guessing i haven't got it though. Still amazes me how much the parts for a bluetooth retrofit cost, its not like its a cutting edge technology! lol ;-)

I had an aftermarket unit fitted on my a3 when I bought that which supported btooth streaming. I can't for the life off remember what it was called though. They are around 170 quid I think

haha, the thought had crossed my mind, but fortunately I'm not that desperate! haha. ;-)

you can change the cradle for an iphone 3 one and then get a 30 pin to lighting connector, that's how i charge my iphone 6 with the same set up...

Cheers guile! That's well worth knowing. Any idea where you get the iPhone cradles from?

I'm assuming this only charges and doesn't mean the phone will work through the stereo?

Actually looking on eBay they do an Audi iPhone 5s cradle with the lightening connector build in.
I wonder if one of these could be modified to take an iPhone6...
