Seen a few people wrapping their trim with vinyl. Fancied a go at is as I didn't like the scratched trim I had and didn't want to splash out on the S-Line parts.

Most people seem to wrap the parts in carbon fibre, but I just wanted the silver s-line look.

Got some brushed aluminium vinyl off eBay and gave it a go today. Have only done the Ashtray, gear surround and back trim, need to order some more to do the front door trim.

What does everyone think?

I'm liking that bro !!! I have the same issue a lil bit of scratched trim ******* me right off. I have been looking to use plastidip, but I'd prefer to remove the the item to spray it. This makes it a lil bit more difficult an being a lazy sod wrapping looks the way forward. How much was it for the vinyl wrap you bought ?

Yeh I thought about getting it sprayed but couldn't be bothered.

The Vinyl was £4.95 for 1500mm x 300mm. Need 2 sets of it to do it all, so £9.90 in total. Found this out as I ran out today doing it. More ordered!

Here's the link to it. Realistic Silver Brushed Aluminium Vinyl Car Bike Wrap Bubble Free 1500MM x300MM | eBay

Has the nice Brushed feel to it as well! And putting the vinyl on was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Already done this in my 09 a3 a month or so ago .re did the gear stick surround and the brushed alloy door trims .even though there brushed alloy already .really annoys me that last owners were incompetent in looking after a car .plus if you get the 1m x 1m size you get more out of it for cheaper.

Can't understand how the previous owner scratched so much of the trim In mr car either! Even the chrome on the airbag has scratches on!

Couldn't see a 1m x 1m sheet. Did notice there was a 1500mm x 600mm which I probably should of gone for as it is a perfect size. But hey ho.

Looking good. Might have to get some of that, the brushed aluminium vinyl I've had in the past has been gloss finish and a complete pain to use

I didn't actually realise it was going to be textured. I was hoping for a smooth gloss finish like the s-line stuff but I really like the feel of it now.

This looks ****** great! I'll be trying this out soon, it makes me want to invest in some S3 pedals too ;)

Looks really good, how does the surround for the gear stick come off, or did you do it insitu?

You open the ashtray then pull up on the gear surround. There's a clip in each corner of it.

Thanks! I'm tempted by the S3 pedals too

ha, I might make my aluminium-look trim gloss black ;)

Haha, Grass is always greener

Also here's a small update. Had some spare Vinyl lying about so decided to wrap the rear view mirror, as I didn't like the creamy colour of it.

Haven't had chance to take a picture of it yet as I managed to push the holder of the rear view mirror through the windscreen... I don't know how, I wasn't even pushing that hard.. I think it may of been due to the windscreen being covered in chips. and when I say covered I mean covered!

So today a new screen was put in and I think the rear view mirror looks pretty good!

Still waiting on more vinyl so I can do the front door trims.

Looks great! and you make my crack look girly :(

Thanks! Haha cracks in the windscreen are never fun!

And today I finished off the wrapping as my Vinyl turned up!

Took about a hour to do each piece of trim and i'm really impressed with them!

I then got carried away with the extra vinyl and wrapped and iPad case

I'm really happy with how it all turned out and improved the inside of the car doe much!

I'd have just done a straight swap with you for my aluminum trim for your black lol Looks good btw :)

Just so you know, you have catfood in your door pocket.

Dammit! Ah well haha, I enjoyed doing it. Thanks :)

Haha, I don't even have a cat. My girlfriend feeds the stray cats and the food gets left in my car :meeting:

Really good job on all the trims.
Were they hard to get off?
Mine need doing, but I'm frightened I break something :)

She sounds like a keeper, the mental ones are good fun

Thanks man.

All the trims were really easy to get off, I don't think you could break anything on the door ones or back ones. Most that happens is you pull the metal securing clips out and you have to poke them back in.

Haha, thanks :p

That's reassuring to know.
I've only got a 3 door, so no back ones for me.
just need to do the front door trims, the gear knob surround and ash tray lid.

And if I get carried away with any extra vinyl; who knows.....

Mines a 3 door lol. I did the back ones too. The pictures are further up.

They weren't very hard to wrap and just as easy to get off.

Spare vinyl is dangerous! My phone case and iPad case have been wrapped as well as my mac being partially wrapped! It's easy to get carried away with it haha

This thread is great , perfect timing , I got a set of brushed alloy jobs for my doors and back panels off E-bay , they had a couple of broken lugs but the guy said they would be ok , to be fair , 3 were 1 wasn't and it keeps popping out , tried all sorts to secure it , finally used hot glue but the heat from today must have melted it cos it popped out again :motz:
I was only looking at the vinyl option the other day , this has given me the push I need to have a go , thank you :icon_thumright:

Glad it could help convince you! Haha

Good luck with it, feel free to pm me if you get stuck anywhere

That looks awesome, do you reckon it's humanly possible to wrap the small trim around the airbag on steering wheel without it looking mega crap?! mine's scuffed and it really annoys me!!

This vinyl looks excellent! it says i can be used on exterior too. Has anyone tried using it to cover Avant roof bars that have gone milky under the laquer?

I have previously wrapped the thin silver trim line on the steering wheel. Looked good, was very easy but was advised it may hinder the airbag working as it should. Have since changed the wheel.

Recently sprayed my front and back door trim red and also the grab handles to match red exterior. This looks wicked in my opinion (bought second set to spray). Black wrapped the ashtray and knob surround so at the moment I have removed all the silver.

Last thing I got to do to the car before I've headed to OZ! Mine was scuffed as well, cannot understand how it got like it!

I've not tried it on the outside yet. I never got around to doing my mirrors in it. I'm sure you could wrap the roof bars easily enough!

I did ponder this, but then decided if the airbag has enough force to smash through the plastic casing, it should be able to rip through a thing bit of vinyl!
