Hi Guys

I have identified that i have a dodgy parking sensor at the rear, 3 of them tick 1 of them doesn't. Can i get a replacement from ebay for my A6 2011 Sline Avant. I have seen a few on there but didn't know which one to pick. any idea where i can get a part number?

also i would need to paint it - i assume the car has a paint code? and finally is it a bit of a pain to change?

Thanks again guys really appreciate it

Thanks

Chris

I went here for mine when my middle ones were playing up.
I e-mailed him first with my PR paint code as it wasn't on the list and he got back quickly with the answer.
I ordered two - just in case which turned out to be smart - and it was a good, painless transaction.

A little info on the job:

Removing the old one(s) was harder than it should have been for me.
I have an Allroad with retractable towbar so I was able to reach in through the bottom of the bumper with the towbar extended without taking anything apart.

There are two clips - at the top IIRC - so you need one hand in the unclip the sensor from underneath the bumper, then the other hand pushes the sensor out toward the front of the car.
I removed the harness plug fist to so I could see what was going on with a torch and mirror.
My sensor was somehow stuck in it's mount, and I ended up pushing off the sensor mount, which is bonded to the bumper.
To fix this, I cleaned the area with isopropynol and bonded it back with araldite.
To ensure the correct position, I coated the old sensor in silicon grease and poked it through the bumper and mount from the rear, leaving the sensor facing the front of the car.
Once the araldite had fully cured (24 hrs even for rapid - NOT just set) I just had to pull out the old sensor toward the rear to remove it and the holes in the bumper and mount were perfectly lined up.

I put some silicone grease into the plug of the new sensor, pushed it in from the inside of the bumper ad twisted it until it 'clicked' in.
Reach up and plug in the harness and it's done.

I have a saloon 59' Le Mans edition, VCDS is pointing to the left rear sensor. Is it the same procedure ? No bumper removal ?
Also when unclipping harness is there a release tag below top or on side if plug ?
When removing the sensor what retains it in the mount and do you have to twist sensor clockwise or anti clockwise to release it from the mount it sits in ?

Sorry for the barrage of questions I just don't want to break anything unnecessarily

I don't know if you can get away without removing the bumper on your saloon - try it and see!
If not, at least have a look with a torch and mirror-on-a-stick to see what you are working with.
As I said above, I didn't have to with my Allroad with retractable towbar.
I can't remember which way up the plug was - it was a standard Audi plug connector that you need to pull the clip with your nail to release.
The sensor is clipped into the mount with two clips. I think they were at 10 and 2 o'clock - but they could have been at 4 and 8.
You just lift them up and pull toward the front of the car (from the back of the bumper) . I had to lift one clip, pull that side a little then do the other.
I had problems because I couldn't get the old sensor out as it had stuck in the hole.
The 'mount' is just a plastic flange bonded to the bumper with two 'finger' type clips. The hole in the flange lines up exactly with the hole in the bumper to allow the sensor to fit through with the 'figers' clipping it in.
You will see what the score is if you look at a new sensor.
