Hi guys need some advice i ordered my A3 Saloon back in August, to be told it would be here in december which wasnt too bad our friend ordered one a week before us different colour similar spec, he collected his on the 1st december so expecting mine in the next week or so,i gave the dealer a call to check it was built and on its way.
Now bear in mind ive been getting weekly email updates saying expected delivery date late december. I was getting excited with only weeks to go, but the dealer when looking on the system couldnt find the build week, so thinking it was a system glitch they called Audi uk who have now said the car hasnt even been given a build week. And somehow a glitch on the configurator has allowed the order to be placed, Its gone to the factory who have rejected that option, but Audi Uk have forgot to tell the dealer or myself so we could alter it so its just sat there waiting for this change to happen since august with no allocated build week.
Now you can guess im rightly ****** but what to do Audi Uk have offered me a loan car for the period i now have to wait, the dealer is having a meeting with Audi Uk this morning about this and has said we should be able to hijack one of their builds, but there all diesels and mine was the 1.4 cod so she has to confirm it wont delay it, but it now isnt going to arrive until March.
My question is what do i push Audi uk for in the way if compensation to stop me cancelling the order all together.

Give you a diesel for the same price as the petrol would be my first request. But you have obviously spec'd a petrol for a reason

Or insist on an s3 loaner until they build yours :)

Did you get a decent discount on the original deal. You might want to push for a bit more but I doubt they will buckle. They would just off you more freebies like free servicing or auto guard life shine. At the end of the day if you don't ask you don't get.

My wife wants free leather and mono pur as she didnt spec them lol but already asked for nothing less than an S3 loaner that was my first thought.:)

You could be really cheeky and ask for an rs7 or rs6 but I somehow think the fuel costs in the meantime would make it cheaper to pay for the leather options you wanted

And you would then have to hand back an RS6/RS7 after a couple of months and get into your A3....what a dissa!!
I think the leather and Mono.Pur added on would be a good thing to start with as its at config stage so is doable and would be fairly cheap for Audi to do compared to loosing the sale I would think.

But I would definitely want a decent car as a loaner, but remember you would then have to "downgrade" when you got your car ;)

Paul

Having an S3 would probably be a bad idea. You'll hate your car when it arrives...

But would it not help with the emotional turmoil im now suffering lol

I had a 1.2 se for 2 weeks before mine arrived and it made be appreciate it so much more!!

When mine was delayed they gave me a Q3 for a loaner, just go with it as you are getting it for free...

Also look on the bright side - new March plate and the worst of the winter grit and salt on the roads should be over. Best to try and get some sort of compensation on servicing costs going forwards and take the the free loan car for what it is.

Also make sure that the loan car is either the equivalent or better than the car you have on order, that's what I did...

Providing the loan car offered is of rough equivalence to yours (i.e. not a base spec A1) then that's not a bad offer in itself as you'll get that time for "free" with no wear and tear on your car.

That said I still think you should be entitled to more than that - I'd push for options as you say but go Alcantara rather than full leather - far superior :p If they won't budge on spec then go for some free servicing.

Well i spoke to the dealer today who confirmed that the loan car would be a good one, but they are waiting to hear back from Audi tomorrow to see what they can offer. The dealer has a car in the system thats build week 6, but its a diesel so they are waiting to find out if it can be changed to a petrol without delaying the current build week.

You should push for freebies. I think getting a better spec car as a loaner is a terrible idea as it will take the gloss of yours. Having an s3 and then downgrading is going to make your car seem so much less which I think will cause you far more emotional turmoil in the long run! I nearly end up with a loan car and would have requested an a1 or something to make my s3 seem even better! I'd be even tempted to request something other than an a3. Save all the novelty for your own car.

If you push them I reckon you can get a fair bit out of them. Request to speak to a representative from Audi uk yourself. I can't imagine the dealer will push as hard for you as you might yourself. Also, don't tell them what you want, ask them what they're offering. If they're no where near what you want then tell them. You may get lucky and they offer far more than you imagine you could get!

A sob story helped me when my mac wasn't working properly and ended up getting it swapped out for a top end one.

I would say that the dealer is as much to blame. If they have been giving you weekly updates, they have obviously not been referring to the Audi tracking system that would have given them the information.
How could they have been telling you delivery was in December and then found out, in December, that there is no build week.

Sounds likely that it's all the dealer's fault to me. I find it hard to believe Audi Germany/UK would make such a stupid mistake and, given how the dealer seemed totally oblivious to the problem until now, it does sound like they never checked or followed up on the order and never realised there was a problem.

If it was Audi's mistake I think they'd be bending over backwards to help out and get your car built pronto. As it is I reckon the dealer is at fault and Audi have probably read them the riot act and told them it's their responsibility to put it right. The fact that it's the dealer trying to appropriate one of their own orders for you rather than Audi themselves is also a bit telling.

Don't set your heart on getting an S3 or anything, just be glad they will give you a loan car, at least then if you don't get what you've asked for regarding free options etc you don't feel vexed.

Loan car is a minimum I'd think. Also if you're trading in make sure they honour the original trade price, not a depreciation adjusted one in march. Push for a few options, but don;t be surprised if they aren't possible - some might push the build slot they're trying to get back so that would be counter productive.

You should push for freebies. I think getting a better spec car as a loaner is a terrible idea as it will take the gloss of yours.

And running around in a basic spec A1 isn't a bad idea? They won't loan out an S3 and from my experience of having a Q3 it didn't take the gloss from my saloon at all because it is a far better car than that was in so many ways.

Well after speaking to Audi UK they had more bad news for me lol car will have to placed as a new order, which means an expected delivery of May.
They have offered me an A3 saloon Sline S tronic to use until it arrives they are also covering the cost of the insurance. Just waiting to find out of they are willing to add any options to the car like upgrading cruise control to Acc asked for mono pur and Alcantra seats let's see what they come back with.

Having had a similar ish problem albeit not as bad I went to my local BMW and got a quote for a 1 series. I took it to Audi and showed them the similar price and they would have the car in 4 weeks. Even though Audi sell more cars than BMW in the UK they are keen to maintain the lead maybe mention that your thinking of cancelling and going over to BMW might help with the options.

Its a joke that Audi UK can't rush a car through given the circumstances and are treated the same as a local dealer by the sounds of it.

Sorry to hear this! My Audi salesman messed up January this year. Car was delivered in March as a manual instead of S Tronic and had to order another. Then that was wrong, so they ordered another. I had 3 different loan cars, an A6, A4 and eventually A3 S Line before I got mine in August. They gave £500 worth of extras and some nice gifts when I picked it up.

The A3 Saloon offer doesn't sound bad at all tbh, especially if you'll get free insurance for the duration as that'll potentially save you a fair bit. When your car does arrive it'll be five months newer, on a new registration and worth more down the line.

I am happy with the loan car and them paying the insurance but surley they can get it built before may.:(:audibash:

6 months does seem a long time to me TBH, even including the 2 week shut down at Christmas

I ordered my S3 saloon, on are about the 1st August & I'm expecting a call anytime soon to be collecting it

So 4 1/2 months for me. Audi are supposed to have upped the production on the saloons after an unprecedented demand for them.

So I would expect from order to delivery less than 4 1/2 months IMO

Audi are currently busy building free cars for their sponsored European football squads!! Ask Ronaldo if he can loan you his S8.

Well an amicable agreement reached with Audi Uk which means a loan car (due on thursday) including insurance at their cost. For the full period that im awaiting delivery of my car. And also the crossing of my palm with silver.

i awaited on my A3 saloon 45days, 1.4 tfsi, all by spec, and it was well worth of awaiting on it. Man this car puts smile on my face. I actually went to buy a4 and saw this "little" guy. You will enjoy it all the way, and the looks.... man its style all the way.

Totally gutted for you mate, It's nice they offered you a loan car (i'm guessing free of charge) - I would definitely go towards a free few goodies in the car and an S3 loan car for sure. Good luck with it, and sorry to hear.

Well Thursday the Audi Demonstration Team are dropping off a brand new 64plate 1.8 Tfsi Quattro Sline stronic in floret silver for 5 months free happy motoring.

result, well done for sticking it with it. Enjoy the 'free' motoring, managed to squeeze them for any more goodies? Quattro may come in use with forecast weather!! Enjoy

Are they giving you anything towards additional petrol costs? I would imagine that the difference between the COD you've ordered and the 1.8 quattro will add up to quite a few pennies worth of fuel.

Yes a personnel cheque on it's way for £500
