Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

I treat my women far worse than I treat this S3, a beating a day keeps the breakdowns away ;)

Please wash it before Friday.

Why? It's going to get absolutely filthy driving there anyway, and then do a track day.

I'll wash the windows for safety, but I can't see much point washing anything else?

Feels good to have the S3 as a weekend car ey? Just the feeling that its a weekend toy, makes you enjoy it that much more when you drive it!

Clearly the best car on the entire eBay.

Yep, basically I've got to sell it. There's no two ways about it.

I'm caught in a constant cycle of fritting all of my disposable income on the S3, and I'm entirely unable to control myself. I get paid, bills go out, I wait two weeks to make sure I don't owe anybody anything. I spend the remainder on the S3. That's happened for quite a few months now, and realistically I've spent thousands on the car which if I hadn't of done I'd have the deposit for the mortgage I so desperately want. And the thousands spent have in no way made it more saleable, profitable or desirable. But unfortunately have made it an absolutely epic car to drive.

I always said from day one I was going to buy it, have some fun with it and then sell it when my girlfriend got back from Australia. Look back to the original quotes when I picked it up. It was a short term plan to have something awesome.

I've had so much fun with this car, it's been the best I've owned. I love it. And I'm finding it really hard to part with it, I don't want to sell it. I want to keep it tucked up forever in a little garage so I can tinker with it at the weekends and abuse it late at night like the dirty bitch it is.

But realistically it just has to go if I'm ever going to grow up and have an actual life.

£4300 is a ridiculous price for such a well build car of this specification. You couldn't even buy an intergalactic mileage standard M3 for that money; and this would absolutely destroy it. I'm fairly confident you couldn't buy anything for this money which would be faster down a nice country road and then look as smart when you pull up at the pub the other end.

With that in mind, I'd like to look at this as 'I've created something fantastic that other people can enjoy' rather than 'Jardo's a ******* idiot for selling his S3' as everyone is telling me.

It's hard enough selling it as it is, so before people start being dicks try and see the positives.

:)

house comes first man
the longer you leave it the harder getting one becomes!
get the house sorted
find your feet
buy it back lol

...or just have some self discipline and don't ***** all your wages on it.

Surely you're at the point now where it doesn't NEED anything doing to it anyway (other than maintenence/services)?

Will £4k really make that much difference to a house sale? You'll miss the S3 more than extra house you get for the same money!

I'm also saving for a house but I suppose I'm in a position where I'm not constantly trying to improve my S3. You are simply addicted!

Can you store the car for a couple of years?

Why don't you keep the car and sell some of the more expensive parts? You can cash in a little and also keep the car.. But I know you wouldn't want the car without all the fancy bits.

Good luck either way dude, but make sure you speak to the new owner and explain you want first refusal in a year or two to buy it back

I had the same dilemma mate and I decided it would be so hard to find another in as good nick and with the milage mine has (not to mention ever being able to convince the mrs to let me get another ha!)
I ended up buying a van and SORN'ing the S3.
I Feel I 100% made the right dissision for me and once I've sorted my house out ill get her back to her best!

So a dirty Fiat bus and a house instead of the S3, its a sh!tty swap but the sensible thing to do.

I actually came on to ask you a serious question.
Did the wheel spacers make any difference to handling?

You will regret selling the car but if its got to be done.
We're lucky owning A3's, they're worth f@ck all so no point selling them, lol

Will it sell, or will it not....Find out in next week episode of 'Journey to Quattro...My Story.'

In all seriousness though, if it doesn't make £4000 on eBay I'll keep it a while longer.

I've done at least 400 miles in it this week.

This morning it was cold.

Yesterday I drove it to pick Prawn up then we went to Brands Hatch.

The day before that I picked my mate Luke up and we picked up his new LCR.

I raced an M3.

And won.

I drove some lanes.

And some more lanes.

I feel sick each time you mention getting rid of the Audi and posting pictures of that red thing

defo odd seeing you trying to sell up again
you spent too much on it
time effort
defo not a great time
consider breaking? surely worth more?

Oh god no, I'll never break it.

I don't want to sell it, I want to keep it forever. But I've got my mortgage provisionally agreed subject to proof of earnings, and the gap between what I've got available and what I need is conveniently what my S3 is worth. If I can sell it for the money I need then I will, otherwise I'll just wait 6 months and reapply.

You on paye?
surely they can see your earnings or do you need bonus's / commision etc?

Nope never

Yes, always :p

Today I took my GoPro type thing out for a drive and some lunch.

On the way out the door I stroked the neighbours cat.

Went up to the old airfield at Lasham to play about with all the leaves and some launches on the entry/exit road.

I tried to setup the GoPro on a stand so I could get a video of me sliding around but it kept getting blown over because it's so windy. I totally forgot I had a totally disused airfield down the road, I was on the phone to my dad saying I was having a good drive and he said 'on a private road office' and I said 'no on my personal airstrip' then Dad said 'why don't you go up to Lasham, I bet all the leaves are on the ground now.' Went up there and it was all totally open and in I rolled, messed about for twenty minutes and ****** off down the pub for lunch. I might try and get up there one day with Prawn.

Stopped off at the pub for lunch.

I'm oddly proud of how dirty and filthy it is, I don't want to clean it until next year haha.

Then mother and I went out in the Panda Cross.

Thought about bidding on your s3 but it said "may not post to Guernsey" so gave up with that idea.

Yep, sold to NikkiNokkoNoo outside of eBay.

I was feeling really apprehensive about selling it, I was worried it would go so some nobhead who wouldn't look after it and wouldn't appreciate the car. That was more of a concern to me than how much it would sell for, and when it would sell.

But from talking to Nick on the phone I'd got really good vibes, and when he turned up and I started chatting to him about the car, and his plans for it I knew he was the right buyer. Lol's is going to be a dedicated track and weekend car, like it's always deserved to be. And now Nick has joined a few of my forums I'm really hoping that I'll be seeing him at track days and be able to keep an eye on Lol's and still appreciate it.

So whilst my time with the S3 has come to an incredibly enjoyable end, it's only just starting for Nick and he gets to benefit from all of my hard work and has got a nice springboard into S3 ownership.

Do I regret selling it? Yes.

Am I probably going to spend all my money on a Porsche or an M3 before I buy a house? Yes.

:thumbs up:What's your Mum's phone number.

I'll single Al's post out because I love him so much.

I've given her your landline number and a picture of you; if she's interested she'll be in touch.

As she walked out the front door last night she said...

''If I went out to town tonight, I'd defo pull.''
