I'm looking to upgrade my alloys soon,on my s line avant. Thinking about getting 20s but I don't want any rubbing! If it's possible what's the fitment I need alloy width? And tyre size?

strange is a webstite but perhaps you have to ave adobe or something similar to make it work, works ok on my iMac

I will be fitting 9x20 on my avant early next year I've already got the coilovers & wheels just need to work out adaptor sizes & tyre sizes I'm most probably going to run 245/30/20 or 255/30/20 as they are a similar rolling radius to the 245/40/18 already on it.

I recon.

Its depends on the offset of the alloys to eliminate rubbing on 20's

Let us know may be able to advise

Try willtheyfit.com on Google, type your existing set up in and your new set up, it will then calculate everything for you and tell you how much your wheels will poke/tuck and how much arch gap you will loose/gain also tell you your speed differences.

What is ride quality like on 20's? Much different to 19's?
They look like they will be rock hard due to the thin sidewall.

They most probably won't be as comfortable but they'll look good :icon thumright:

I've had several sets of 20" wheels on my B8 S4 now, and they fit fine with no rubbing. It's all about the offset.

20x8.5 ET35 is the max I'd run if you're lowered. I currently have a set of 20" BBS CHs for sale in 20x8.5 ET38 fitment, here: http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=111675&sid=ae5e35ee2dba169a480728828f70f0c4

Regards ride quality, provided you stick with Audi OEM tyre sizes (e.g. the Q5 runs 20x8.5" wheels) you'll be fine. It may be slightly harsher if you're used to 18s, but there's hardly a difference between 19" and 20" IMO.

The tyres are 245/30/20...ET35 9j on coilovers...ride quality is smooth and not harsh....but have the benefit of adjustable dampening too much better handling all around due to the quality of the coilovers.

The comfort is impressive even the Mrs didn't notice any change in the daily drive

No far from it..............#I have learnt that it also helps having quality set up too so you can adjust the comfort....a must:idea:

Is there much of a stretch with the 245's as I'd rather go for 255's as should give a bit more comfort.

Not really.....my alloys are protected too....255 too wide depending on your rim ofsett

My wheels are Et60 but I need to get custom adaptors made before I fit so I'm trying to work out what size I'll be needing I think there going to be in the 20-30mm range for the adaptors.

Shouldn't be any stretch on 245 on 9J I have 245 on 10J and don't think its too much I have 235 on 9J and there's barely a stretch at all. Also depends on tyre brand as they do vary, try looking on tyrestretch.com on Google that will show you any tyre stretch and different tyre brands and which look more stretched than others.

That's good to know that's why I was thinking 255 not really going for the stretched look. Not looking forward to buying the tyres either :(

you want for a4 20x8,5 et 35 tires 255/30/20 or 20x9.0 et 38 tires 255/30/20

i know it's not 100% fool proof but if you go to alloywheels.com enter the car, model, year etc and it gives details of what will fit you car bud :) good start point
