Hi all

So planning on trading my Civic in when I pick up the S3 but does anyone know the dealers may look at that brings the value down? I have a few areas where paint is missing and may get them sorted before taking it in.

In my experience they start at book and work around that. Did you get a value when you ordered? In any case, I doubt you will get back what you spend on paint as a lot of Audi dealers will pass cars onto trade. Do your research. Look at CAP for latest trade prices for your car.

My local dealer uses webuyanycar for valuations, which is going to be rock bottom. You would probably be better off selling privately if you can.

Whatever happened to Glasses Guide? LOL

Agreed. Sell privately if possible. I beat my dealers best offer by 2k..

I would also agree selling privately is the way forward, particularly as your existing car is another marque.

My car is proper battered and old and will need to keep it until the day I pick up the Audi so don't fancy going through the headache of selling it privately.

Hi all

In my recent experiences with some dealers its been service history (i.e. is it due one) and tyres. It can't help to give it the once over with a wet rag before they see it. If its not one they are going to retail themselves then they will have to get another trader to put a bid on it and they will have to describe the car to them... Underlying that will be the usual trade guides as starting price which will be pants of course.

Its also best to have done your research on what part ex price you should be getting and webuyanycar + other websites can give you some basic info.

If you can face dealing with the public then you (might) get more by getting the paintwork sorted and selling privately. Just have to factor in the downsides of doing that.

Good luck anyway,

My car had some scratches on it, so would need some work to sell privately.
I tried webuyanycar.com and described as perfect, just to get an idea of the best price.

When I ordered my new car the dealer gave me the same valuation on my car, with damage and fixed for delivery (which was 29 weeks ahead in the end). So a no brainer. It was nice to just go in with he old car and drive out with the new!!

Sell privately I can get 4k for my car that way and audi offered me 1500 for it,

I'm in the same situation as you, I need my car right up until I get the new one. It's fine saying sell it privately if the person buying it is willing to be helpful and collect/buy it on the exact day you get the new one.
As others have said they just go on book/webuyanycar etc. prices for the make & year. My car will be 2 years old when I come to switch and will be a great buy for any private seller as it will only have 10,000 miles on the clock! He's even told me to sell privately as they will just pass it on as it's non Audi. I'll advertise it on a few places but I think it will be far less hassle just to switch keys on the day...unless I fall lucky with a private buyer.

Edit* This seems more realistic http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/used-car-prices/

I had a 2.2tdi civic (2006) and they offered me £2k without even seeing it. Webuyanycar came up at £1500 so i was pleased with that. meant i didn't have the hassle of selling privately, plus mine had the usual clutch slipping and had done about 140k

ive got the exact same car - 113000 but an EX so it's fully loaded. We buy any car has come up with £2660 but not mentioned the damage etc. hoping Audi will offer me close to £2.5k without looking at it.

Ihoping Audi will offer me close to £2.5k without looking at it.
Good luck with that at Coventry Audi buddy

They wouldn't give me a figure on my old Audi A4 for a March collection on the S3. Said I would have to wait much closer to the time

Don't forget. you've lost all your bargaining power in relation to part ex prices now you've done your deal mate
