Hi guys,

My down pipe has come away from the turbo, you can see the gasket hanging out and it looks like the bolts have snapped. My turbo was changed a few months ago and now this has happened. What size bolts do I need and am I right in thinking that I can get it back on by removing the charge pipe and the strut brace?

The standard turbo has studs and nuts rather than bolts as I found out the hard way. I ended up using bolts on mine as I discarded the old turbo before I realised. The top bolt can be reached by removing strut and charge pipe. Very tricky though. I used a couple of universal joints and a mirror. I also removed the O2 sensor. Other 2 are handiest through the wheel arch, and even easier with the drive shaft removed

I've heard about removing the driveshaft, sounds as if it's the easiest way and I like things that way. Hopefully I can get some new studs tomorrow as I really need my car back on the road for work Monday. I just don't get why it's come away, I can only come up with that the down pipe must of been under some tension.

38mm m8 studs with 1.5 pitch thread. I doubt very much they have snapped unless the downpipe isn't fitted correctly or the dog bone mount is knackered and its caused big twisting on the downpipe turbo..
