Hello,

My 2001 A3 8l Quattro (ARY engine) is behaving normally besides a squeaking/creaking noise coming from within the wheel arch.

It occurs when I'm driving and turn the wheel sharply, or when I'm parking and turning the wheel full lock in either direction.

From what I can tell it's coming from both arches.

I tried topping up the power steering fluid which was a little under half when I got to it.

It is now at full and has made no difference to the sound.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Is it the top mounts that are creaking, if this is the case?

Or are they causing something to creak by being worn?

Also, how could I verify that this is the case?

Kids today eh and their power steering? Makes me cringe at the amount of damage using the ps pump to turn big heavy alloy wheels with grippy tyres while stationary. Something has to give.

Pop the bonnet, Put your ear near the top mount and get someone to turn the steering wheel left to right. If they are shot, They will creek.
