Hi,

First time poster.

I am looking to replace my a3 with a sportback s-tronic s3 (low spec) I would need this for May 2015.

I replace my cars after 2-3 years therefore I rather not buy.
I have a quote from Coventry audi for PCP:
otr would of been: £29,942.
deposit: £6000.
duration: 2 years
mileage per year: 6000
monthly payment: £259.44

so the cost for the two years works out to be: £12,226.
I have no interest in the GFV as I defiantly wont be buying the car after the 2 years.

now i have also looked at personal lease deals via google.

cheapest was synergy automotive.
deposit: £2,410.47 (inc vat)
monthly payments: £321.4 for two years.(inc vat)
total= £10,123 for two years.

i have found a couple other lease deals which are not far off this price. (vehicle contracts offered the next cheapest)

Has anyone used synergy automotive?
is there any benefit of me going to audi for the pcp over the lease?

or does anybody know any other leasing companies that are worth a go?

any advice would me much appreciated.

thanks in advance

The PCH (lease) deals won't have any options but look on contracthireandleasing.com their sort of a search engine for PCH deals. Leasingoptions.uk and lingscars.commcan also be pretty good.

If you had a PCH you'd be charged for excess mileage normally 7p+VAT

The way the market it for the a3 and in particular the s3 there's a good chance of having equity in the car that can be used towards a new car.

Freedom Contracts have some good deals, you could get a golf r for about £7k over 2 years!
Haven't seen any good S3 deals on it though.
Dave

Done mine over 4 years but he told me he would be getting me out of the S3 and into something else at 2 years, as the car will be in equity! I'm only putting £1000 in and over the 2 years it's less than what you have been quoted (total). That was with 8000 miles per year with just under 10.5% off the price.

PCP is here, finally in Ireland. Looked at the Golf R last week and for a 49k car with 9,100 euro deposit the monthly was 608 euro with a GFV of 16,800 euro. 1.9% APR.

Only thing that put me off the deal was they only offered 34K for my 14 month old S3 (which cost 57K new) Go figure.....!

Do a Google search of Synergy, if you can a local dealer is better but not with that price difference.

Are the options included on the lease?

6k deposit for a 2 year car is insane, especially since the Golf R is much more cheaper and practically the same car. A manual 5dr basic would be about 5.5k for 2 years with 3-6 month deposit.

dtwm1 - thanks for the websites- i actually came across lingcars whilst doing a Google search and thought it was a fake! after seeing you recommend it I went back and the flashing images gave me a headache haha. got a quote and it was far too expensive but obviously was worth a try.

I did consider the golf r for a split second when i saw a lapiz blue one in the flesh - looks more aggressive then the s3 plus the lights are something different compare to audis "strip" lights. but I am just not sure why i am more attracted to the s3 regardless off cost.cant put my finger on it but i know i wont doubt it.

I realized afterwards that putting a higher deposit does not bring the cost down, so I have been getting new quotes with lower deposits.

The synergy quote was for a buisness lease. I got an updated one for personal lease with a few options added on which ended up being closer to the pcp from audi coventry. just £500 cheaper.

I was so suprised that if you opt for a lease and want options ( in my case audi sound system, privacy glass, rear sensors and a panoramic roof) that you have to pay near enough the full amount for the options. Not sure if its same with all the lease companies.

synergy seems to have good reviews on facebook and feefo (never heard of feefo before)
but it does not help that a company in 2012 under the name of synergy manchester was scamming people on lease deals.
obviously not the same company but it has made me think twice. I am always skeptical of companies online.

will be looking to pop into local deals (stockport and manchester) to see if they can get some price matches.

thanks guys

No worries glad I can help. I agree Lings cars is an 'unusual' design, I've read about their customers being sent packets of noodles and chop sticks in the post whilst they wait for delivery too.

If you're Manchester way pop in to Bolton Audi, I dealt with a guy called Steven. Bit 'vanilla' if you ask me but I don't want a new friend and he was very keen to do a deal and worked hard for it. It wasn't till I ordered the car and this forum I discovered Carwow etc anyway Bolton had pretty much the same offer as Coventry and although the service wasn't a1 it was better then you hear about Coventry.

Wow, you are looking at hiring a car for 2years and seem happy paying minimum 10k.
I have never understood leasing on brand new cars other than the feeling/comfort it gives the owner, why not buy a 18month old S3 (or whatever) and run it for 2years then trade it in...........or take out a longer term loan and buy/sell on a whim?

Saying that the Golf R deal seems waaaay better if you must go for lease, the S3 isn't that better a car.

I would be too disappointed with a 8p s3 or golf r every time i see/think about the 8v. This is the car i have my heart set on.
I was initialy going to buy the car but that would of meant taking money out of certain investments which would of seen losses greater than a lease deal.

I have got a few weeks to play around with options and defiantly wont be rushing into any agreeement.

I think lease deals have had their day for the retail buyer, everything now is geared towards a PCP. That combined with an a3/s3 is a great recipe as your most likely to have equity in the car unlike a Golf R then obviously you then use that towards a new car. Like most I'm on a 48 month PCP but have been told they will want me out within 2 years and into something else.

Like I said pop into Bolton Audi, there just off the A666 and keen to do a deal. I had some issues with being given a unrealistic delivery date and a lack of contact but instead of going straight to Audi Customer Service I saw John the head of business who gave me a car for 3 weeks so can't complain.

I've used Lings before, a bit quirky but they were really quick and great at communicating. I received the car within a few weeks. I would happily use them again if I was wanting to lease again.

My biggest issue was that I ploughed £8K into the lease and then walked away with nothing at the end. My current car is a PCP, by time I get my new A3 (hopefully in January) I will have spent about £8K too, but there's just over £1K equity in the car which is going into my A3.

Could never imagine spending £10k-£12k on a car and it only lasting me two years, imagine buying a car for £12k and it be worth nothing after 2yrs.

I think rented/pcp cars should have an orange roof or something, so we can tell them apart from privately owned cars.

PCP serves a very good purpose that allows people to buy brand new cars that they could not otherwise afford. The word "buy" being used loosely. PCP accounts for a significant amount of new car sales. It's also acts as worry free motoring, no bills and a brand new car. People get bored with cars as well so 2 years is looked upon as a good time to change a car etc.

At the end of the day it's up to the buyer what they do with their money and who is anyone else to judge? It keeps the second hand market ticking over nicely and it gives people the satisfaction of owning a new car.

You can also choose to buy the car at the end of the PCP deal too. It's completely different to a lease deal.

There is too many different and nice cars out there to stick to one for too long for my liking. Im already planning my car for after the s3!

Im 23 finshes university with no doubt. Im not married. No kids. Live with my family. Not many bills. I have a job with my hands in two different buisnesses. Dont really go holiday so i can put more money towards the one thing i love which is driving.

I will defiantlt give bolton audi a visit!

I'm in a similar position, I'm 22 at still at university. I did an internship with a car hire company for a year and still work there part time, I love cars so it made sense to put my money into something I enjoy.

I can't stand people that think having a pcp/lease isn't as good as owning it outright, it the same car and owning it outright doesn't make your d*ck any bigger, if anything it makes you look like one.

It may seem like a lot of money but then you will get people out there who think its silly paying so much extra for a s3 compared to a a3, not knowing much about it. And if you told them a rs3 costs almost double the a3 they probably would have a heart attack. Especialy knowing it would take 4 times as much fuel for the same journey.

Theres people out there spending thousands on drinking and clothing/shoes. Each to their own.
I rathe spend my money now before my future wife comes and does it for me. :icon thumright:

It all depends on priorities. My first priority was buying a house before any car. Once I got that financial commitment out of the way, then I could budget what I could afford on the car front. :)

Got the wife, house and kids ticked!! Thought I would treat myself to a new car and PCP was the best option to do that!:)

My PCP is approaching the 2 year mark and the numbers are looking good to 'upgrade' to a new car soon with just a small boost in deposit and no change to monthly payment. Still not decided if I will change it as I'm quite happy with it and it still feels new to me. I like the flexibility that PCP offers, I can decide to buy it or hand it back at any time.

100% agree with this. When I placed the order for my A3 I knew I wanted to own it at the end of the 3 year PCP deal so decided to pay more per month in order to bring the final payment down. I'll be keeping this one for 5/6 years + I would think :)

I personally don't like HP or any form of finance. I have always paid cash or taken out a loan with the intention of paying it off with the first couple of months.
That's not saying I'm right or wrong it's whats best for you.

I seem to prefer older cars, which I think is why i don't like it.

Seeing it more and more on car forums now, people with standard, brand new cars, showing off how well they can clean it, because that's all their allowed to do

Don't get me wrong, if I needed and wanted a brand new car I doubt i'd buy it outright, i'd probably pcp it etc as it makes more sense. It just doesn't give that special feeling of something you have built and worked on yourself, something that you can't just had over a fixed amount of money each month to drive, i feel that's where the love of cars is lost.

I mean nearly every bloke is a "car fan" but to be a proper enthusiast i think you need more to show for it than a monthly bill.

Let the arguments begin

I have purchased all my Audi's for cash. I can see the reasons why people use PCP and it also means the dealers sell more cars. I'm just not that keen on paying out 6-7% in interest when I have money in the bank that can only earn much less in interest. The silly situation is that I can earn more interest on my current account than any savings accounts.
