Please can someone help I am losing the will to live?
Had this fault code showing for several months now think fuel consumption is terrible gave up on 1st garage so tried somewhere new last week.
1st garage checked for leaks found none and also smoke tested.
1.Fuel filter replaced code came back.
2.Temperature sensor top right hand side of engine replaced code back.
3.Cleaner added to petrol to clean injectors code back but car drives better.
4.New MAF fitted code back not happy as not cheap.
Gave up on this garage so tried new one which came recommended by RAC.
They do diagnotics say it's fuel pump as pressure was low. This was fitted yesterday and is a bosch replacement? again not cheap and light has come back on today.
I am going to phone the garage in the morning but anyone here have any other ideas? The car is completely standard no mods? It starts 1st turn of the key, drives fantastic actually better since fuel pump change no hesitation or stutter, reaches temperature. Only issue is this code and poor mpg which has to be related. Please help :keule:

Sounds like they've addressed everything except the fuel injectors: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/18609/P2177/008567

Does the exhaust sound like it might have a leak? Maybe another thing to check as per above link.

Thanks for the reply, No exhaust leaks garage have sent injectors away for testing. Would an injector problem cause bad mpg as this is the only noticeable thing I can see wrong with car?

The law of sods dictates that it will solved by the last part you replace.

Hopefully it's the injectors and here's hoping you get it sorted.

Hi there, latest update the company can only test diesel injectors not petrol so the garage have given up as can't be sure of the problem. The only thing left is to take it to Audi dealership but not convinced they can do anything different. Fuel injectors are expensive to replace if they aren't faulty :audibash:

Have you checked for any vac leaks? They normally cause rich running but worth a shot. If it's a 2.0tfsi is expensive to replace the injectors, I think they are around the £300 region and the labour on top of that isn't cheap having to remove the inlet manifold.

Hi all who responded to me, so today I took my s3 to be terracleaned at a local place to me. 3 minutes into injector clean (car was set to rev at 1500 rpm with pedal clamp) revs shoot upto 3000 rpm guy says there is your problem injectors are now clean and reduces rpm back to 1500. Machine finishes injector cycle then moves onto carbon deposit cleaning for the rest of the engine. Car smoking pretty badly at this point but guy reassures me it's just the machine doing its job after 20 mins no noticable smoke at all from exhaust and not long after machine beeps to say it's all done. Fuel system put back together and the guy says go and give it a test drive. I pulled out of the junction and I **** you not I thought the guy had just fitted nos to my car :jump:the power gain was incredible the throttle response awesome at low revs and I can't believe how much better the car drives. The mpg already looks noticeably better, well in between scaring myself to death putting my foot down. Just praying that the cel doesn't light up again but if your car isn't running like it was I would highly recommend getting it terracleaned

Sounds like a great result mate. Out of interest, how much did this work set you back?

I bought some wynns carb/intake cleaner and sprayed it in through the pcv on the manifold while she kept the revs about 2000 rpm.
Totally smoothed out my idle and it seems to run smoother too!
Cost me £4
